I've been working on my '93 project for several years now. As time has gone by, my salary has gone up but my spare time has gone down. At this point, I just want to be able to drive my car. It's probably in need of another 10-20 hours of labor, plus tuning. My project is almost a complete overhaul. New turbo, new fuel system, many new electronics, etc.

Does anyone have any experience with taking a 2/3 finished project to a shop and having them finish it? How did it go? Alternatively, anyone want to buy a 2/3 finished project for cheap so I can buy a Z or something and just drive it ?

I've contemplated it numerous times.. I'm always worried they won't be satisfied with my work to put their name on it and redo all I've already done and charge me for stuff I did... Maybe I'm paranoid. GL

I'd need to make a comprehensive list, but off the cuff it looks something like this:

- Run stainless braided fuel lines from tank to engine (the brackets under the car are already modified to hold braided line, bulkhead fittings already installed at tank and engine)
- Fab up intercooler piping
- Fab up brackets and stainless braided lines for oil coolers and install (I have the coolers themselves)
- Fab up sheet metal ducting for intercooler/radiator
- Maybe a little miscellaneous wiring

That should get the thing running. Then I'd need to get it tuned, get a couple of gauges installed (sensors already installed, just need to mount gauges inside car), get some minor body work done, and get a bunch of interior wiring and electronics cleaned up.

So, honestly, there's not THAT much to do, I just have very little time these days. Thanks for the tip on BDC. I'll give him a call.

I can do the job you're looking for but I can't get to it just yet. My plate is filling up and I've also got a move coming up very soon I'm working on. Would love to do the job for you, though.

You might also check with Kan tuning. Kantuning.com. That would be Steve formerly of Gotham. He has his own dyno and there is no one around here more qualified to work on the 3rd gen. Of course Chirs over at Rotary Performance (rx7.com) in Garland is another shop that comes to mind as a good choice, believe they have their own dyno as well.

 

I recommend you call Mohammad at MZM and let them finish it for you. They have built several cars (RX7's and Supras)for me over the past 10 years. I highly recommend them.

Did MZM build the 7 Beast - 20b? Looks nice! I think MZM wins, they are in Austin!!

 

All mods in my sig were installed by MZM by previous owner -- found the receipt for $11k when I bought the car. I wish I had more information, but the car seems to be well put together and drives great. I don't know who the previous owner was, but he did live in Austin -- not sure if you can track him down for further info.

 

MZM hasn't worked on the beast yet. I did most of the work myself. Right now Ari has the car. If I still lived in San Antonio or Austin the car would be at MZM.

That's impressive Bill. I know the 20b conversion is no piece of cake. I struggle keeping my 1st gen race car on the track. I'd love to see it sometime. My 3rd gen is very stock, I picked up some parts I need to get Steve to install, and see if I need an ECU upgrade.

Were really lucky to have some options here in DFW!
