Thumbs up Sevenstock 8 is coming ! ! !

((Official Announcement))

After your emails, phone calls, forum postings, and face to face conversations, we would like to announce that last fall's SevenStock-7 was not the last event in the series! We proudly announce SevenStock-8.

Mark your calendars for October 8th, 2005. We've moved the event back to October to take advantage of the near perfect weather in Southern California and to allow the caravans crossing the Southwest to run in cooler weather.

The greatest Rotary event in the world started out as just a little BBQ get together by about 10 SoCal RX-7 Club members, and is now an event with over 5000 enthusiasts attending last year. The event celebrates of all cars rotary, and has become a yearly pilgrimage by rotorheads to Mazda R&D in Irvine, Ca. Mazda dusts off some of their historic Mazdaspeed race cars, and current racers like Abel Ibarra bring out their latest rotary monsters. If Santa-Ana and Jimi Hendrix was the music of Woodstock, 3 and 4 rotors fired up in the courtyard are the music of SevenStock. This is a do-not-miss event.

We have the date set for 10/8/05, and the location, Mazda R&D in Irvine, Ca., and we are finishing the schedule of events from Friday night through Sunday afternoon. Visit SevenStock.org for event information, and information on past events!

I doubt there will be a caravan with gas at $2.20 a gallon and projected to increase.

I think booking a SoutWest airline flight for 99 bucks right now is looking REALLY good, this is coming from one of the people who started the caravan and knows the fun firsthand.

(note: SWA flies into the airport that is DIRECTLY across the street from the host hotel.)

Seven Stock with no RX-7's

I am thinking alot of people are going that route. I think this will be the first sevenstock featuring people instead of actuall RX-7's lol. Nobody can afford to take their 7's. Oh well.

As usual I'll be driving the I-10 route. It would be exceeding cool if more than 1 seven (or at least 1, speaking of which are you going this year TwistedRotors?) joins in this year from TX or NM.

I wish I could do it Wyatt, but I just can't rationalize 450 bucks in gas to get there and back.

I will make sure I send anyone that is planning on driving your way.

PS. We gotta hang out when we get there. It is kinda cool that there isn't a Sunday event, maybe we can all hook up and see the coast or something.

We all fly out and rent identical econoboxes, being sure to check the box for additional insurance. Then we race them Days of Thunder style through the streets

Personally, we are flying out on Wednesday night. Going to chill in SoCal on Thursday and Friday. Come home on Monday nght.

If we can get enough people to commit, I have talked to a local travel agent and we might be able to get a deal. I need about 8+ people who want to fly out of Houston. (airport to be decided later)

Since my sister works for Continental, I can use one of her vacation passes and fly for free. brillo (Alan) has so many frequent flyer miles from Continental that he can get there and back for free as well. We are pretty well covered.

You never know till it happens, but I think we are going to have our most powerful TX/NM ss caravan in history. In the range 2000 to 2500 hp (flywheel of course) from just 4 or 5 TIIs (of course I expect there will be significant contributions made by others as well). Just think of how many gas stations will be sucked dry on route.
