Don't freak out. Consider yourself lucky that you live in DFW - you have plenty of top-notch choices.

I'd definitely give my recommendation to Steve Kan at Gotham Racing. Steve is an awesome guy and is arguably the best RX-7 tuner in the US.

BDC (Brian D. Cain) is great too. He's very active in the community and is really friendly - he'll definitely take care of you.

Don't worry about the guys at RP, Steve is definitely the man you want.

When it comes to tuning, you're *very* lucky to live in that area. You can't go wrong with Chris at RP, BDC, or the guys at Gotham. Alex over at Gotham will take care of you, stop in and check the place out

Yep, i've talked to Alex and he told me all the true things, including my 66k miles engine, he told me my engines about to be blown. and you know what, it's blown, it's my fault too stupid me, now i am DOUBLE depressed. oh my god, all the time and money spent for parts and installed. past 3k. now i gotta spend another 3k for rebuild, oh life is but a long stressing misery every since i started loving the FD like a lover. I'd hate to part her out for a 2jz. it wouldn't be right, that'd be violating the law of rotary society. But i have just one shot left, and budget is pretty low. 2jz swap job is totaled 5k? anyways i am gonna just cry a little bit...

How did the engine blow? I'm pretty sure a '2jz swap' is going to cost you more than 5 grand.

Chump change when dealing with buying parts and then paying someone to install them. Not to be a dick but it sounds like you need to sell the car below you spend more money. IMO to own and maintain a good FD you should have 3-5k on hand at all times to spend so it doesn't become a driveway ornament waiting for a new engine. Doing your own work or having savvy friends reduces this number.

Just because you swap another motor into the car doesn't mean you won't have to throw more money at it to work correctly.

I don't know how Dallas is but there seems to be a ton of FD/RX7 people up there that might be willing to help you install/rebuild stuff if you befriend them/offer something in return.
God knows if I hadn't had this type help from one guy (who I count as a good friend now), I would of blown my FD up when the engine went.

Im done rambling, good luck with it.

I was too excited and took the FD for a spin, it couldn't go past 5rpm, it's not the secondary hesitation, it's something else. Rx7 performance didn't wanna, or claimed that they dont have time to tune my car, so i bought the freaking DATALOGIT and
cewrx7r1 / Chuck Westbrook's Documents on tuning FC with datalogit. Spent 3days reading the documents over and over and finally when to settings and set them all up, turned the boost up a little past 10psi, who wouldda thought it's more than that when the boost spikes up to 19psi. Yep mistake on my part. Shouldda waited or drive to GothamRacing......Call me stupid guys!

and it's true, you have to have a lot of money to maintain the rotary, but i am not giving up, it's my dream car, i cant think of other cars i would drive in. CADILLAC XLR? NSX? 300ZXTT?

Yeah, i am thinking about rebuilding it, but also comparing to the 2jz swap cost effective wise. i found someone who could install the 2jz for 3k-subframe, drive shaft and wiring included (Fifty Fifty Racing guys), and the 2jz costs 1.7k, of course it's automatic but i'd just have to swap that later on with a 5spd for another 1k. But just let me cry some more.
