Ever noticed how much ducting is built into the factory setup? I'm no Mazda engineer but I'm sure there is a reason for all the ducting. I don't think slapping a big *** road kill scoop on the front is doing much in the cooling department unless you actually take the time to make an attempt to duct the air properly.

And hey - they are made of fiberglass too! Thats the best front end material evah! First time you bump into a parking block, a piece of scrap paper, or a feather it shatters and your front end looks all krunk.

I don't care what any of you stick on the front of your car really... It gives me **** to talk **** about!

Thanks everyone for all your help. COuldn't have gotten this far without it. Hoping to have her at the next meet. Have an issue tho

The motor was running great, ran her for bout 5 mins when she died. Figured it just ran out of gas. Poured more gas in. Now she won't start. I have spark. Have fuel again going to the damn motor. When i add starter fluid, it kicks a bit. It wouldn't kick if it was flooded, would it? Only kicks when i add starter fluid so i'm guessin i'm not getting fuel into the engine again....less its flooded(but again, with starter fluid, if it kicks...shouldn't it not be flooded?)

also, here's the last bit of parts i need if anyone can help out

Driver's foot rest(dead pedal) - I think i'm getting this from larry though.
power steering cooling line ( the s line in the front in front of the radiator)
door pin
a/c condensor
drivers side window switch
fender liners for front
driver's side fender vent
hood latch
battery tray
coolant tank
cheap wheels with tires (or maybe just tires for stock wheels)
drivers side lock wiring for door handle
the little paperclip looking thing that holds the lock cylinder into the door handle
the little plastic thing that holds the rod to the door handle
the bumper things for the hood to lay on by the headlights
the suspension things
strut bar
battery tray
a/c drier

Pull all 4 Plugs, Clean them, Turn off fuel pump (make sure it is off), Crank the motor with full throttle for 10-15sec none stop, add a little ATF (About 5 cap fulls per rotor housing), Install cleaned plugs, re-enable the fuel pump, start, be happy.

woooOOOoo, Drove my FD today! Put .1 miles on it :P

Don't have power steering right now so it was a pain to turn anywhere...And brakes barely work...but i got to drive it!

Seem to be having a few electrical issues though.
When I turn on the lights so i can see the gauges...they only work when the engine isn't running.
Fan speed works fine but if i hit the a/c button, it dies (don't know if this matters but the belt isn't currently connected)
Doesn't seem my radiator fans are coming on.
if i plug in the air compressor, the car dies.

Otherwise, almost there?

hey guys, just wanted to say what up to the local boys. congrats on the progress david! i hope i get a chance to meet some of you guys in sept. i have a bunch of new toys to install on the fd(95-r2-ssm) and hopefully i get it all finished in time to drive it a lil bit before i have to leave again. when do you guys have the monthly meet?

rx7 nut........why do you put atf in it instead of motor oil? i had a similar problem with my last rex and i cleaned plugs and put oil in it with no results thats why i'm asking. it doesn't matter much anymore because i sold the 93, but i'm still curious about the atf.

later, mark

^^ the ATF is just to build up compression after the car floods, it wont foul the plugs and will burn quick....look out for the smoke!

Ask 7Dust about how flammable ATF is.

found most of the issues of my electrical issues, didn't put the grounds down. lol

but here's some more electrical issues

Passenger window works now from passenger side but drivers side switches don't work for driver or passenger window.

left turn signal light won't turn off..

fans work if i use the diagnostic but otherwise dont' come on (thinkin possibly my thermostat? I should have replaced it while everything was apart..)

I have no horn so if someone wants to donate one.

I drove the car around the block. Its tough to drive without power steering...and i think there's a ton of air still in the abs cause the brakes barely work if i slam it to the floor. Clutch is really easy to push too... Otherwise, it put a smile on my face but almost passed out cause of the fumes.

The Flammable ATF Story:

Nut and I decided to change the automatic transmission filter when troubleshooting my automatic transmission problems (before the 5 speed swap).

During the process of dropping the transmission pan, my heat wrapped downpipe soaked up some of the spilled ATF.

Started the car and it was a little smokey from the fluid smoking on the downpipe and Nut said that it would "burn off."

Took a drive down the street and back. Car was REALLY smokey.

We opened the hood, the smoking ATF got oxygen and POOOOOF! BIG FIRE!!!!

I pretty much ran around screaming like a girl while my car burned.

Nut was VERY quick at retrieving a fire extinguisher and putting out the fire in a heroic move that resembled sliding into home plate while simultaneously dousing the flames. It was beautiful!

To this day I still place 95% of the blame on Nut. He still doesn't really seem to give a **** what I say.

There ya go!

rx7's but usually has been the case with other cars.

7dust that is a funny *** story, you described it very well indeed. i could just picture rx7nut sliding in with the fire extinguisher.
