you're kidding me. $1800 is a lie. you told them to go to hell right?

ok, wait. are you talking a full rebuild and port job, or just porting? i.e.- you already have the irons and housings in your hands.

For some reason that doesn't surprise me. They really shouldn't be allowed to install anything other than windshield wiper LEDs, and I'm not sure they can even do that properly or for a decent price.

One of my customers was charged ~$1k to replace ONE rear axle. They were charged extra for things like "torching the bearing out". WTF? I've never taken a rearend apart that didn't require a torch....

EDIT: Oh, and I wouldn't even try to find somebody in Austin to do it. With my limited machine shop experience, I've found that there is absolutely nobody in town I'd trust a piston engine to, much less a port job. You might try calling the DFW guys (Rotary Performance, Gotham, etc.) and get pricing from them.

Of course I told them to go to hell. 1800 damn dollars is such bullshit Mohammad and his brother runa ripping off service. I had a friend get his 13b REW rebuild and I think It cost him around 6k

I have to give mzm a bit or credit they did install my fathers 2nd motor, but they fucked up the idle, and the clutch. + a 7k price tag. which is bs, I just install my own streetported motor from gothemracing 3.1k...

I made the mistake of having them do my clutch, I dont know if $1000 for a clutch job is normal, but yeah.... I just finshed installing my second motor, when i was removing the tranny I happen to notice 4 of the clutch bolts were missing, and one of the top tranny bolts was missing. My or my father's rx7 well never see that place again.

I had them install my rad. Felt like I didn't get the service treatment I wanted, so I never went back. You can do all your own work if you have the time.

I've dealt with Tito at alamo rotary. He's not a people person if you know what i mean. I felt he was cocky, and just didn't treat me right. I ended up having him do work for me, but i felt as if i was almost forced into it, by the attitude i was given..

I had done an engine swap into my 88, and i know i cut corners, and at the time i was still learning the cars, so i understand for him picking at my installation job, but he critisized what i did.. I'm almost mad now for how he belittled me...

I know they can do the job, but it would be a last resort now.

Reccomend BDC.. does amazing work, and is a people person, and fairly reasonable pricing.

They were only going to charge my g/f $150.

And Matt, I thought your rebuild was going to be done in two days?

I'll see about producing a receipt, but it's not BS. I had to find and deliver parts because Mohammed is awesome at life.

"Derrrrrr,,, This is a '79! It has a disc-brake rearend! WTEFFF!?!? What's it frum?!?!"
A Plymouth Horizon? No? Maybe an RX7?

Aye, produce a receipt or don't mention it, because I for one know that's NOT what they charge.

Yes I have and don't think he should be blatantly making such a statement while some great engine builders are in this state.

This implies that only a select few people have the ability to port engines. Brian is pretty damn good. You can only get so good. I'll put him against ANYONE else in this state that you can think of. It's not an insult aginst anyone else by any means. I'm just not going to underestimate his work. He's that good too.

I'll mention it all I want, receipt or no, because that's what they charged him. We can **** on each other's shoes all day, it doesn't really make a difference. Is your girlfriends car a first gen?

Maybe the pop when they dropped the car off the lift was Mohammed's head coming out of his *** instead of the coilovers settling in to place, I don't know. I do know they charged my customer $1k to replace one axle. I also know they measure the splined part of an axle with a bernier caliper to see if it'll fit, so hey.

I didn't imply that only a few people are able to port rotaries. Just meant that we have some great engine builders here. I agree that he has improved greatly, but to say he does the best work is a little over the top. What's next, he is better then Amemiyasan?
