The inaugural Wild West 1500 Rally will be held in September of 2005. It is open to anyone, 21 years old or over, who holds a valid driver's license and has at least minimum liability insurance on their vehicle. This rally will have cars of all types, from supercars to grocery getters, so yours will fit right in! The entry fee will be very modest and will cover the primary driver and a co-driver. The course runs from Houston, Texas to fabulous Las Vegas, Nevada, with a one night stopover in Roswell, New Mexico for a night of barbequed food, drinks, partying and mingling under the stars in a camp with individual tents for each team (Maybe we will see some of Roswell's famous aliens!). Then it's "***** to the wall" again all the way to Las Vegas, Nevada for the finish line celebration at a beautiful Las Vegas hotel where we will party even more. To find out more, simply click on the links below. You know you want to, so why not do something that you will never forget as long as you live.....and remember, nobody lives forever!
crazy. i dont suppose the rally will be coming through dfw...?! too bad i hope to have moved out of texas before then anyways.
sounds fun, though! ah well, probably for the best. i'm sure my PD would fail and my car would burn to the ground before i made it out of texas...

So a poor man's gumball? Hmmm........
It's only $2000 to enter... And it's not even a Race!
(and yet I still wanna play)
Sadly, the best car to use on these sorta events would probably be whatever got the best gas mileage at a high rate of speed... I'd bet a nice 6spd LS1/2 would be good for that.. A 7? not so much...

Hmmmmmmm, why the **** would I wanna pay 2000$ to drive from Houston to Las Vegas; when I can do it for just the cost of gas! I never got these rallies that cost you a shitload of cash to enter them and you don't win anything if you come in first.
On another note the gumball rally is portrayed as a fun, "anyone can enter, it's all about the fun of driving rally" but when you look at the $10,000 entry fee it's really just a "get nothing but supercars together" rally. So I say **** you gumball rally.
We should setup an rx7 rally sometime however, I think that would be awesome. Something like the power tour, where everyone just gets together and goes and people join along the way. That would be awesome.
get this kid some soap for his mouth..
j/k
Anyhow the answer are simple really.
Cost of production + Insurance + "perks" + advertising = your cost.
Production = someone has to organize the event. Someone has to goto all of the locations beforehand, make sure that the locations can handle the incoming cars and celebrities setup security etc.
Insurance = even though you will wind up signing off on a waiver all of your rights, there are certain insurance riders that need to be obtained when organizing the event on the open road. This insurance isn't to help you, but anyone you may injure during the course of the event. These riders are very costly.
Perks = Ok, so maybe you pay for the perks. These "rally" are just another word for rich guy parties. When you arrive at your destination you are going to be treated like a king. You will have a nice suite, and more champagne that you can swallow. Of course you pay for them out the nose with your entry fee, but everything is taken care of when you arrive at your checkpoints and destinations. Think of it as a "all inclusive" vacation.
Advertising = self explainitory.
anymore questions.
