are XS maps good?

I just called XS and they said they won't be able to dyno tune cars until for at least another 2 months. My single turbo kit will be arriving this week, what should i do? I am thinking about just sending in my power FC to have them re-map it but will it be safe enough to run on a racetrack??

For what it's worth...

I got the XS T04S from them a while back... put it on.. and told them the exact list of mods that I had. They tuned my PowerFC and mailed it to me.

I then went to KDR and dynoed it and he said that the map was "very good" and only needed some relatively minor tweaks here or there. The only thing I'd caution you on is to make sure that you have large enough injectors and an upgraded fuel pump. Having a good map won't help you if it calls for more fuel than you can supply!

i too have a T04S and XS re-mapped pfc. Dave at KD also said it was mapped perfectly. It really runs beautifully and i'm sure i can take it too the track. I have 1600cc secondary inj and a Supra TT Fuel pump.

Send your PFC to XS

Make sure you tell them to map it all the way to 29 PSI.

They told me to run a max boost of 14-15psi on pump gas even though I told them I wanted to run at least 17-20 psi.

So they only mapped me to 17 psi. I think they told me this becuase it was easier for them to do it that way....

they didn't have maps for 1600 secondaries but they probably guestimated or used 1300 cc mappings.

I also am running the T04s setup and sent my PFC to XS. Car runs fine, but does have a couple of problems. The initial throttle response when I will first touch the gas pedal hesitates. For example, when engaging first gear and you first touch the gas pedal, the car's rpms drop and almost stall then the engine revs up. This all only lasts about a second, but sometimes it has caught me as I am engaging the clutch and the car stalls. The car seems to buck at low rpm also, say driving around town and being at about 2k rpm. Going on the dyno Friday so hopefully those gremlins can be fixed.

Mine did the bad hesitation thing on throttle "tip-in" at first too...

Then I remembered that you were supposed to remove pins/cut wires on the PowerFC install. Did you do that? If so... try resetting the PowerFC by disconnecting your battery.. maybe that will help it relearn??
My hesistation was all solved by removing the proper pins from the wiring harness.

I had my pfc remapped by XS and it runs good. I did change some of my leading and trailing timing inputs to get rid of neg splits in quite a few cells. Other than that , no other problems thus far (knock on wood)!

still?

rx-7 pilot,

are you still running like that? This negative timing split thing from xs is a issue that never seemed to close. They never did explain it. All the threads just kinda died.

Yes, I am. Car still runs well. Went to the track and ran only 11lbs of boost with street tires. 14.00 with traction problems in 1st and second. It may not be that fast but it ran smoothly. I didn't have time to run at 15lbs boost yet. I want some dyno time first. hope this helps.

I don't see any problem in sending your computer to them for some mapping. My recommendation is, once you get the computer back, don't even think about getting on the car until you get it to the dyno. This "cookie cutter" version of mapping and expecting it to be the same for every car is crazy.

That makes absolutely no sense. You should have never sent the pfc to them in the first place if you felt that way. Why waste 150 dollars??

Yeah buy Roy Johnson Jr , what would you say to someone like me who has no dyno access ??

..should I invent 1500 for a WBO2 and a EGT on top of the cost for the XS tuned PFC
