I really want to go single but I dont want to do it half ***. I was under the impression that to make good hp with single you have to change the seals and have it ported. Other wise you can make good power from stock turbos. Is this correct or am I way off? Dont be a rikki a made 354hp on 11 something pounds stock twins.

Its just way too expensive to have my car ported and then seals done right now.

Should I wait mod my stock twins or just buy a single without seals and port done.

If this matters I have 14,400 original untouched miles on my 93 7. Thanks for any help.

Toy put down 401rwhp on his original stock motor (43k miles) and a GT35/40 kit.

1/2 the reason I went single was so I could rip the rats nest out and sit it on my desk rather than leave it in the car to cause problems.

It isn't cheap to go single unless you already have most of the supporting mods, exhaust, IC, ECU, etc since you'll also need, fuel rail, larger injectors, upgraded fuel pump, FPR, etc, etc, etc in addition to just the turbo kit.

Could be as cheap as $3k, or easily as much as $8k - $10k if you don't already have many of the supporting mods.

I have about half the safety mods, but still have more to go.
I definately understand the rats nest...

Toy was running how much boost to get that?

Im dynoing tomarrow on 21psi on a REMAN....no porting what so ever. You don't HAVE to have your motor ported. Yes, it helps a lot, but its not something you have to do. My car pulls hard as **** on 21 psi.....I'll post dyno sheets tomarrow. I ran 11.22 on 14psi on my REMAN w/ no porting.

:-) I knew it was, just wanted to hear you say it. I'm a bit more confident in swapping in the T78 on top of my stock engine after hearing your experiences with a stock reman. I really only plan on running 10-12 daily, 14 on occasion, but it's nice to know there's something in reserve when I have race gas in the tank.

I'm running a single with stock engine stock seals, and stock port. No big deal, of course I am not planning on boosting more than 15psi (on race gas) and 13psi daily driving though..

Yup, I made 306rwhp at only 10psi, I wanted to go hihger, but my car was misfiring because I had a stock ignition system. I have some new plugs, wires, and my b&m ignition amp going in soon so after that it will be able to go higher

Don't do it, then, Michel. Unless you're going to spend $ on re-engineering the T78, "GORDONIZING IT" (that is a HUGE compliment) and adding post turbo mods.

UNLESS you're going to promise me you'll run MORE BLODDY BOOST!

Dude, the T78 is HUGE at 17+ psi. Get a GT35/40, and run 14 on it all day. Toy and Nocab72 are at over 400RWHP on stock engines with the GT35/40, but running that low boost is going to be painful with the T78.

Disclaimer: Don't listen to me. I don't own a single. I just tune them...and boy do I enjoy the ride!
