When is a three row necessary?

Do I need a three row with a t-78? Alot alot of guys are running smaller intercoolers with their single. The price difference is quite alot between a two row(v spec) $899 and three row (r spec). $1399

Basicly is the extra $400+ 3 row going to be that benefical with a 16-22 psi t-78 set up?

Thanks,
-MIke.

yes it will, and in the future if you ever wanted to upgrade to a bigger turbo you will need this intercooler but it works really well with a t 78

Just use the 400 bucks saved for a water injection kit.

I'd rather use those $400 on the better cooler and add some more into tuning and then maybe i'd think about WI...

well there's two type of 2 rows, the rspec and vspec, i would go with the rspec, better cooling of the air vs the vspec version.

I ran a 2-row R-spec intercooler on my car with a gt 35/40 and 20 psi. I never had a problem with high intake temps or overheated the car because of limited flow to the radiator. I chose the 2 row because I feel the 3 row blocks too much airflow to the radiator. Keep in mind that the standard V-spec core is designed for stock twins and quicker spoolup. The R-spec core has more fins for greater heat dissipation. A 3-row intercooler will have greater lag.

Update: I got the R spec three row.

I'm going to open the front bumper another inch and half to alow better cooling for the RAD.
It should be ok, plus I'm going to make a piece for the top, between the Rad and intercooler to alow even better flow.

I should have pics in a couple of weeks.

well, i dont have any experience with the greddy intercoolers but i think for that kind of turbo, you should go with the 3 row.. that thing puts out a lot of power.. why take the chance just spend the extra $400 for a 3 row.. or, get another intercooler.. im running the Blitz 4 row FMIC.....
does it have to be that big? NO
will it hurt anything? NO
