Datalogit and recent tuning experiences

Well guys, finally got over my misfire conditions and have started to tune using the wideband and the datalogit. Haven't blown it up yet but looking at my AFRs I have a bit of work to do, rich in the middle and lean at the top. Knock is very low on the datalogit, however, it is consistently higher when monitoring with the commander (commander seems to update faster since monitoring less variables). Knock is still very low, below 30 at WOT, whew!

I'm still puzzled by the N and P rows. Logging while using a pump to supply pressure to the map sensor has not helped. The PFC N and P rows just do not coincide with the data logged rpm and boost/PIMV data. Oh well. Biggest finding is that my MAP sensor will read to only 18 psig. The datalogit logs indicate this as boost/PIMV equivalent to P Row 18. This means that rows 19 and 20 are not used; maybe 19, a bit. Word of warning, the P row 17 is actually used for higher boost than I thought, according to the datalogit anyway. P 17 is logged from about 13.5 to 16 psig. Should have gone with a Haltech?

I thought about redo'g the P rows to give more resolution between my target boost of 14-18 psig, but I have little confidence in the resolution of the logs to take advantage of this. Still undecided. For now, I will simply tweak the base fuel until I get my AFRs where I want them. The PIM maps are the bomb for rough tuning but I do not trust the datalogit to change these on the fly, had problems. Also had problems using the commander while the datalogit was connected. So I am using the commander only to rough tune with the PIM corrections while monitoring the AFR using a laptop, then connecting the datalogit to datalog the runs for tuning of the base fuel later.

I gotta give props to the gurus that can do this on a dyno or on the street in a single session.

A nice little tool to use for adjusting the AFRs is the Wideband converter on the Datalogit site. I tweaked the spreadsheet so I only change cells that only have greater than 5 samples. Using the spreadsheet will allow you to change quite a few cells with one cut and paste, which result in more refined adjustments compared to changing PIM voltages.

Damn that is an old post of mine, we have come a long way since then. Tuning is now a breeze with the Datalogit. Haven't seen the tool on the datalogit site, made my own a couple of years ago.

I didn't notice somone dug up an old post up. Thought it was odd that you'd be using PIM voltages considering the pretuning thread (sticky) from you and Chuck.
