me too. I could use the block off plates and gaskets.

Sean, would that be a problem for us to get some of these parts in advance.

somebody... told me that there was a long wait on the turbos from garret... Any truth to that or is this person just making that up to make me mad... If there is a wait I guess all I can do is wait. So thats what I'll do...

I'll sit and wait impatiently

I really need mine here by the end of the month at the latest 3 weeks! fingers X'ed...

I hope to real soon have numbers. I am at KDR's mercy as they are the closest dyno that I know of. All I can say is the kit kicks ***. As far as the lag, there is a little down low. I think that some of that is my front mount. Once it builds, it's there fast and hard.

What sort of rpm are we talking when you say "a little down low"? and what boost are you running? I'm seriously considering buying 1 of these turbo's for my FB with S4 13BT but am still weighing up whether it's the turbo to go for. I'm under the impression the turbo still makes good power even on low boost (8-10 psi), unlike some other similar sized ball bearing turbo's that require a higher pressure to make good power. I'm not aiming for 550rwhp or anything like that just yet as my car is under 1000kg and so doesn't need that much power to get it 'round a circuit quickly but 350-400rwhp would be nice. From what i've seen, i should make this on around 1 bar?

At the price Sean is selling these turbo's at, it's hard to pass them up! I'm just a little concerned that it's going to be too big and take too long to spool up. Or are they never too big? I know 10sec_rx7 has just purchased a slightly larger GT42R, and 7SINS here in Oz has just made 608rwhp on a dyno dynamics dyno using a GT42R so something a little smaller seems like a nice turbo to get. I'd be going for the 0.95 A/R rear housing to keep lag at a minimum as i'm not phased if i lose a bit of power potential as i'm not after an outright power figure.

What are people's thoughts? Are there any thread's which go into detail about the turbo's characteristics?

Just reading some of the threads on the GT40R, and have been reading about guys purchasing these new kits from A Spec Tuning. I'm wondering, what A/R exhaust housing is everyone choosing? The 0.95 or 1.06?

Is there that much difference in the response between the 2 different sizes? Or does it not really matter? I'm thinking the smaller would be better for a car aimed at circuit driving as mine is, rather than the larger housing which would be a little more laggy and less responsive.

If A SPEC is not saying any thing new it must be they are not haveing any luck. So far i can only say that GARRET must suck to deal with and like to waste people's time tell them one thing and not keep up there end. I orderd my kit late part of march and they where only 2 week's out then now it is almost july wtf

So he is supposed to send me my block off plates so I can get everything ready. Maybe this will end up being a nice Christmas present.

I ordered mine on 4/6 , its been almost 3 months What sucks is my stock twins have shaft play and I have to deal with that till i get my turbo, and my car is ready for the turbo but garrett is slacking hard ....I hate waiting on ****...Got my sparcos and rails installed ( btw its fun making brackets, oh not)

BTW I am running a cosmo fuel pump, with that and stock fuel lines, running 850 primaries and 1600 secondaries, how much boost should i be able to run with that?

boostedyellow7... I am in the same boat as you!!! But same old project.. I order all the parts last summer and the guy took my money and ran or he mise well have cause I haven't seen the parts or the money.. back So I save up and am going through the same thing this summer with parts. I think the seven will be sold if the kit is not here by next week. I will be asking for a refund

I understand that there are delays, but frankly I have dealt with enough delays for a life time. I just want to move on and have a car I can drive and have fun with which is what this project was supposed to be but has turned into an absolute f***ing nightmare... I am feed up with this...

SORRY to RANT everyone but I am sure you all feel the same way I do

EMA

P.S.

CHECK the For sale Section for a 93 Rx7... Its in Chicago.. More details there...

It's like the old saying goes.... good things come to those who wait... I was in a similar situation last year where I was waiting on parts to be completed so the guys at A-Spec could put everything back together and get me up and running. 2 months turned into longer, but at the end it was totally worth it. Don't get discouraged guys the end result of what you'll receive from A-Spec is top notch and you'll totally forget about the wait.... certain things are out of their hands as with the production of these turbos...

I am also looking at my car in pieces, everything is here manifolds and what not are made, just waiting on the turbos, sk8, bear with me I know it sucks, boostedyellow same with you, your car is too nice not to have this in it. Modrx7 if you wanna cancel you can, you seem to be selling it all off already anyway and thats too bad, just make sure you dont get any rides in one of the cars around here after they are done you will wish you never sold your car, I know I've been down that road, and as Broken says once it's running the wait will be forgotten immediatly, and you will be grinning from ear to ear all the way home. It's well worth the patience.

I guess I do not have a problem waiting if I know when to expect it but what sucks is not knowing if it is going to come in this week or in August!
I just have a hard time understanding how there can not be a more accurate way of knowing the ship date?? I mean we are not talking about a $100 part here!! Sounds more like thousands of dollars of turbo's being shipped on this order..

Sean, I will give you a call in the morning. Mike

I have explained this before for people on this board but I'm sure you would have to search for ever to find it. Garretts performance division accounts for less than 2% of total production runs, the way they work is they do large runs in lots for production vehicles, after they do these large lots, they then take in the orders from the performance division and fill those in between these large production runs it sucks and somtimes it doesn't work well, combine that with two other problems 1) Me getting my hands on preproduction prototypes and stirring the pot, before I should have.
2)Garrett losing a forging plant which isn't supposed to effect the performance division though probably has a little and we are all sitting here waiting a little longer than we should. It wont be that much longer as we are closer to the end than the beginning and I do have a large order and am at the top of the list but that doesn't make them go any faster. I do call them every other day and they are now telling me it will be real real soon.

Dimmer, that is the problem Garrett has been telling me 3-4 weeks then 1-2 more weeks , now any day now they should ship, when these guys call the shop they are told exactly what is told to me, no misleading here,I don't run my business that way, and I get on them(Garrett) about being up front as possible because it's my *** on the line. I was told 1-2 weeks, two weeks ago ask any of them and they will tell you that was the information given to them as well. Now I'm being told any day they should leave. So that is all the info I have.
