Whats this in my turbo oil feed??

I`ve asked on a few forums and no one knows for sure.

The turbo is a HKS T51R SPL BB turbo and this is in the oil feed side under where the flange would attach-

Most people seem to think its a restrictor which is fine but if it is can I just bolt my oil feed flange with built in restrictor over the top of this, or will it cause oil to back up?

If I can`t do this what are the other options? The part in there itself is threaded so is there a special connector I could use? Or could I remove it and just use my original Flange?

I`m a bit stuck as to what to do Never seen this before.

On a sepatate note with the water cooling for the BB turbo do you need to fill it first to prevent air locks or will it just sort itself out as the engine runs and I bleed the system normaly?

Your best bet would be to contact HKS and ask them. You can send them your picture and get them to look at one of their turbos and tell you if it's supposed to be there and what kind of feed and return to run to it.

that is a restrictor .... be sure the restrictor in your line is at least this size...and you will be fine.

That is the restrictor. It needs to be in there otherwise you will have to much oil flowing through the cassette and it will blow through the seals of the turbo. Which is not the best thing.

That is both the oil restrictor and ball bearing anti rotation pin.

Ok guys thanks for your help. HKS have got back to me now and said it is a restrictor and I should use a flange with a 1.5mm restrictor in it

that is NOT the restrictor ! the restrictor needs to be .065"-.075" , which is a "pin hole" ,

It'll sort itself out. Fill it once the car's back together and bleed as you normally would.
