7's going to the body ship, need advice

My baby is finally going to get the body work done on her but the body shop has a bunch of little rice boys working there and i just want to be on the safe side and somehow make the car either not boost or set some kind of limiter with the Commander?? I Just dont want one of them to get curious and go take my **** for a test drive. I asked my friend and he said remove the vac line to the BOV and that should keep it from boosting?? Not sure havent tried it yet so i dont know. But does the PFC have a rev limiter or something i can set before i bring it there? Any suggestions you guys have??

When you get there, take off the turbo to intercooler pipe. It shouldnt hurt since they shouldnt be driving it, just moving it in and out. Removing the vac line to the BOV ( assume I understand what you are talking about) will still allow it to boost, just the BOV will open to what ever setting you have it at and that will be the max boost. Also, it is easyer to get a vaccum hose than a pipe, if they really want to drive it.

Disable it completely somehow. They can push it around without issue. They actually should NEVER have to drive it.

If your worried get the mileage and tell the owner of the shop you hold him responsible for any damage. If he dosent like this go elsewere. After painted i wouldnt want some jerk pushing on my car.

set the rev limit to 2500. and write the mileage. and make sure the workers there know exactly whats gonna happen if they DO take it for a test drive (losing their ***** and the death of their firstborn child should be sufficient).

yeah just set the rev limiter throught the power FC, i did that when i got mine painted, its a little tougher here in NY with the bodyshops they will try to drive it.. so just do what the other guys suggested, i set mine exactly at 2500 to prevent from boosting. hope that helps you from my experience. Its funny when i got the car back coz the other guy was telling me my turbo is not working.. lmfao... i knew right away they were trying

I would also take the commander out after you set the rev limiter, having them changing around settings trying to get it to work would be hella worse than them driving it.

rev limiter in PFC to 2500rpm....and take commander with you...these guys can be a problem.... years ago i had a TURBOII i took to get painted....little did they know i had a recall system for RPM/Boost....when i picked the car up i checked the recall and low & behold.....full boost and 8000rpm....hmmmm....i quickly called the guy back over and asked why the car had to be driven...he told me the paint booth they used for my car was at a different location(12miles extra on the odometer).....i was like "ok....well....was it necessary for them to abuse the car when transporting it?"....he quickly back-pedaled and told me he wasnt the one who drove the car...and asked why i assumed they had abused it......i then informed him of my little recall system and showed him the readings....to which he replied..."yea...your car is really quick"......******* ***-hole....i was young and really didnt care to take it any further with them at that point as they mis-charged me for the paintjob(was supposed to be the 1100 dollar treatment...paid 299 for it ) so i quickly sent a "****-you" his way and went about my business....never trust a bodyshop....

This is something every owner worries about when they hand there baby over to strangers... If I were you, I would just pull the whole computer out just in case they have a spare commander with all those "young ricers" working there. Why not, only takes a minute...

What I did was lower my rev limit to 2500rpm an it was fine.......Just need to give a lil power so it can be move if need be......I don't think they would like to be pushin ur car around when they need to move other cars in an out every day.....

Make it less fustrating for them.....

I picture an exhaust restrictor plate with, oh, a 1" hole. That should do the trick for any ECU.

That's one heck of a story, really makes me nervous for when i go to bring my fc to a body shop.
