what turbo to use????

hey guy's, well i'm looking for feed back on what the best turbo to use.. i don't want all top end horse and have all out drag car. more of a road racer hp. my car is set up with s4 TII motor w/oil mods-full race port- semi peripherial port(looks bitchen)-race exhaust port- microtech LT-12 - AVC-R - GAS+alcohol injestion.. looking for around 6-700 hp.... custom intake etc..etc...
i found a to4B and what i think to be a t78 by garret in a friends garage have not mesured the a/r's yet but i have my hands on about 5 turbo's (all came from bigg trucks) i know i'll have to mod them . But just looking for some input... and is there like a set standard of mesurment somewhere that i can look these turbo's up (Garret-Holset-Swiser#$&$@^!) just to reference these things.....
P.S. i found a huge hoken turbo, mesured about a foot and a half in diameter.. this thing is massive(26B huge)

thanks

Those are two very contradictory statements. To get 600-700 HP on a 13B is not impossible, but it certainly is not possible with anything but a huge turbo, and that would not make a good road racer.. and would probably not be reliable enough to use on a road race course anyway. Remember an RX-7 is quite lightweight, so even 400HP scoots the car around at a very good rate. Do some more homework on turbos before you make a decision, there is TONS of info on this site alone.. just search.

yes i no that might be crazy but i no that if i don't go big on the hot side my semipport will suffer due to exhaust back pressure.. so what about 1.15 a/r on the hot side would that be bigg enough or do i need to go bigger. and for the cold side??? what do you guy's think????

Yea im going to second MJW, if your looking for 6-700hp your definetly not talking about road racing, that is around what the big dogs have to hit 9s. Not to be rude at all but have you ever been in a RX with over 500hp? I only say that becuase to hit 6-700 you will be running upwards or around 30-35 pounds of boost, in a striaght line trying to control that power with a full chassis and drag set up is hard enough, now just imagine having 6-700 kick on as your accelerating out of the apex, it will put you into the wall!!!! Do some more research on road racing and ask aroun, maybe go to your nearest track and find someone who knows what there talking about. Take into account that most teams have around 450hp, and those are the BIG GUNS ie Ferrari, Williams BMW, etc. I think instead of concentrating on raw power you should make sure your suspension, cooling, brakes, and overall BALANCE of your car is their.

right.... here is my delimma i have the engine(same as scoot cross port+side ports) i have this huge turbo(garret, bigger than T88)I'm still trying to figure out wheather i can use it, it was free... i have a LT-12 all the piping to fab custom intake/exhaust manifold piping..(stainless and aluminum) custom large intercooler need to figure how to handle the power... most of what will be used is all custom fab.... i plan on making braces like the autoexe frame braces and roll cage and tubbing the rear see my father and his friend are both old hot rodders and they gott interested in my car so they will pretty much fab anything i want within reason, they have full access to a engine/machine shop they mainly build race engines for outlaws and drag cars... they range from 700-3000 horse... they are kinda waiting to see what this thing will do before they play with more..... I'm also looking to offer copy's of all the custom work-engine-braces-manifolds-exhaust- intake

No but i drove my fathers 64 Baracuda with well over 1000 horse on the street and it was quite a blast. till it was stolen and destroyed (somone DID NOT now how to drive)

I think your talking more along the lines of drag racing, maybe im just confused. Like i said in the first post: Ferrari's road race car has around 430hp i believe, if they could get away with having more power i believe they would. I race karts and i know what its like to have a high power to weight ratio. That turbo you have will be of absolutly no use to you on a road course where you need to break and go through turns, i mean think about that turbo will probably lag until 5000rpm maybe more, then BAM your in the wall. Remember there is a big difference in having something that is a "Blast" to drive and actually competing in an all out race. On the street if you get sideways and lose control or traction you can always slow down and whatever. On the track you just caused a big wreck and also lost the race. Also remeber that on a road course you are either all the way on the gas or all the way on the brakes(some exeptions) but do you think you could handle a 6-700hp, 2000lbs car as you get on the gas coming out of a corner, I dont think so( i couldnt either). You dont want a turbo that is gouing to be real laggy becuse you dont want all that power to kick on SO VIOLENTLY, you want a turbo that has as little lag as possible. I wouldnt recommend putting mor than 450 on a road race car although you are the final say and can do whatever you want.
