indeed^
perhaps I should rephrase .. is it normal for the turbo to have bluish heat spots? EGTs too high? Currently building a new set up - will def be having dual egt sensors this time, but a bit hesitant to use another blanket on a new turbo.
The white crap is from the beanie - looks like the ceramic "fluff" has degraded, I had to rip the stainless mesh a bit getting it off because it was a very tight fit- there was white dust every where, I had to vacuum it up. Havnt got a pic of the beanie - I chucked it out - it was an ebay job.

yes the are bad for your turbo. it is better to use heat shields and have somewhere for the heat to dissipate. show me a factory car that has a turbo blanket and not a metal heat shield

Yeah thanks guys, I never liked the idea of the turbo blankets, but due to under hood temp issues and seeing how many people are running them on their expensive equipment I thought i'd give it a shot, but now I know better. Thinkin i'l run a "soup pot" heat shield on the next one haha
