Turblown TD61 ball bearing vs TDX61 (FD3S)

Looking to single turbo my fd3s which has a 1,700km Stockport rebuild.

Wanting to know if a TD61 ballbearing is good enough for my stockport or will the TDX61 bring in more power? In scared the TDX61 is too big and won't spool up. Suggestions? I'm going with stock primary's and 1680cc secondary's, duel tial Wastegate and 3" v-band downpipe from Turblown Engineering. As well as supporting mods.

I think either would perform well. The real question is if the billet wheel is worth the extra cost on a stock port engine for your power goals, which you didn't state.

What are your goals?
Pump gas, E85, water injection?

You should see 400-430whp on pump only. From there, mid to high 400's should be attainable with auxiliary injection. A stock port engine will always inhibit power at a given boost pressure, but that doesn't mean it can't make more.

There is no noticeable difference in spool time between the two. Both will be fine on stock ports. If you are looking for max power, or max potential power then go with the X version.

my goal is to run 50/50 water/meth with the 94 pump gas we have here. my goal is 500whp but It doesn't seem like there's much else i can do for extra HP other than a less restrictive LIM or smooth out the exhaust manifold

We don't stock turbo kits. Our build times aren't long. 3 weeks currently to ship. You will need bigger secondaries for 500rwhp. I would suggest the id2000s we carry. We can also supply a base map for this complete setup.

Since it's beiing discussed. How would this suit an FC S5? I have a completely new engine in my basement that I'm wondering wth to do with, considering street porting it.
Still a bit new as to picking turbos, so what spool time have you seen, power band (rpm)?

You should ask forum member Havoc. He has one on his FC3S. Here is one of his comments." This turbo feels like a supercharge compared to what I had on there before ! I know I cant boost mine up yet, but Im impressed already ! "

I haven't dynoed one in house yet. I've shifted company priority to fabrication, so we can keep lead times as low as possible. Spool should be the same if not better than the standard unit. I've attached a dyno sheet of a standard journal bearing TD61 with a T4 1.15 for spool/power comparisons. I would expect the TDX to make at least 40 more rwhp.

Most users report 1 bar by the 3500rpm range. I have seen 24psi on one car with stock ports @ 3400rpms( this is obviously an exception).
