TO4R vs TO4Z

So other than the fact the the "Z" is BB and has the fancy ported shroud, are there any real differences between a Garrett TO4Z and a Garrett TO4R? After doing a little reading on ATPturbo, they seem the same. But a few people on here say otherwise. Can anybody point me in the right direction? Thanks

This has been discussed about 4 months ago, look for TO4Z thread started by me, you will find people commenting from UK, Japan and australia.

There you will find photo's and also design philosophy behind the Z turbo, its a total new design with far superior exhaust wheel, better designed turbine housings (neater than old types) and its the turbo of choice for all serious track rotaries in japan.

You will find Garrett Japan part numbers too

Bad news for you over there is you cant get the same as we do, dont know why or what the reason is behind this.

Talking

TO4R's use old school P trim turbine, the Z uses a wheel like a Q in size but better than a P in spool

It was designed as the highest flowing best compromise for decent responce, def a track weapon makes honest 700+bhp on a 13B, with WI even higher !

R has a BB center...at least, I think it's an option as that's what I'm getting.
