Question Tial Wastegate questions

Okay, I feel a little silly asking this, but I just bought a Tial wastegate off of Ebay, but I'm a little confused about all the little flanges this thing came with. Obviously they depend on what I'm bolting it to, but I guess more specific than that, there are a couple I'm confused about .... First of all, here is the pic:

Okay, starting w/ the obvious right-to-left -- that's the WG on the right. The bottom is the "turbo side".
Next is the first flange that appears to be a slightly smaller "inlet" that bolts to the turbo side of the WG. I assume that this simply reduces the size of that inlet?
Next is the one that really confuses me. It's the circular "insert" that fits nice and snug in the turbo side of the WG. It seems to seal off the WG where w/o it you can actually see through the area where the valve sits. I guess the first flange needs to be on there to hold this insert in. So what the heck is the difference between running it with this insert and w/o?? What is it's purpose?

Lastly is the far left flange that bolts to the discharge side of the WG, but appears to be exactly like the existing flange on the WG. So maybe this is just so I can weld on to my exhaust? I guess maybe that's what the first one is too, but I'm just confused as to what all of these do...
anyway, someone that has this or has used similar items, I would appreciate the help!

By the way, check out my new toy -- Tial 40mm wg!

You've got it all right! You need the valve seat (round thing) or the wastegate won't close. The wastegate valve seats against the insert.

You know and after all of that, I pulled a no-brainer... I guess the flange on the Tial is different than my exhaust manifold. So what now? Do they make an adapter or am I going to have to take my manifold somewhere, have them cut off the existing flange and weld this one on from Tial?

DOH! Just goes to show I didn't do my research before buying this part...

bump

Any other thoughts? Also after closer inspection, my manifold is SS and the WG flange is Aluminum -- so it looks like welding that on the manifold is out of the question too... Sent an email to Tial on their suggestions -- anyone used one here?

The wastegate flange is not aluminum.... You will have to have whatever flange was on the mani cut off and the new one welded on.... pay attention when you do this because that flange is not symmetrical... so make sure that you clock the wastegate in what ever diection that you need it

hmm, I took a magnet to it and didn't get anything -- I could have swore it was aluminum. I know the wastegate body itself is not...

Didn't realize that about the flange not being symmetrical -- thanks for the heads-up!

Hey tray, if the flange is stainless steel, magnet won't work either. Just a thought.

Yeah, just realized that may be the issue... It's gotta be stainless -- can't imagine they would have sent aluminum -- that just wouldn't make sense for a part that experiences this much heat. Just my paranoia I guess.

thanks!!
