tial 38mm wg large enough for a t-61?

ok guys I just ordered the master power t61 instead of the t70. It was a hard descision but think I will be happier with the t61's spool time as well as the numbers I can obtain on pump gas. Anyways this brings me to my next question. Is the tial 38mm wg large enough for a t61 or would you go larger? thanks.

depends how much boost you will be pushing.

low boost (for that turbo) you'll want a larger WG

Sweet Spot boost to High boost, 38mm should be fine.

but its never a bad idea to over size the WG

I'd start with a softer spring, and move to heavier spring for ease of tuning purposes.

well basically what I'm going to do is take it to steve kan when it's done to have him tune it and I don't know if taking out springs and such when I get there would be the best idea. What do you guys think?

Well, generally an EBC can do about 2x spring pressure without too many problems. So decide what your max boost is going to be, and base your WG spring on that...

You're going to run 20 psi with a 2 bar map sensor?

Can you let me know some more about your setup? Port work, 2nd gen or 3rd gen 7, etc?
I've been looking at the T-70 too, how do you estimate the T-61 to make at 20psi?

Is it a 2.5bar like the e6x's?

I think that is like 22psi IIRC

Well I've got a 2nd gen with a ported s5 motor, 850/1600cc injectors, rx7.com fuel pump, aeromotive a1000 fpr, hks manifold, tail 40mm wastegate, will be getting water/meth injection, and of course the t61. I do estimate my car to be in the 450-475hp range but I'm not sure at what psi. I'd like to hit 500hp but i think that might be a bit optamistic with this turbo but you never know the t61 is supposed to be at it's most efficiant at around 20-22psi.

I'm pretty sure the microtech's internal map sensor is a 20psi map sensor because when you get into the software the boost gauge reads from vac to 20psi and after many searches thats what it looks like it has.

20 psi is around 1.33 bar, adding in absolute you have around a 2.33 bar map sensor. weird.

oh yeah one more thing to the guy that wanted to know my setup. I went with an undivided hks manifold and .96 backside however if you want to get a turbo setup with quick spool i would recomend getting the .84 and they have an fc hks divided on ebay right now at a damn good price.

Thanks, I'm a ways off to doing my setup. Hopefully you'll post your results and opinions on it when you're up and running.
