Tial 38mm VS. HKS 40mm wastegate

alright, I got my OBX manifold and I am faving it re-welded to fit on my s5 motor.

It has a HKS standard flange on there now, with poor drilling on the bolt holes.
Im thinking of getting a Tial 38mm flange welded on there when I get the engine flange redone.

the HKS is also $300+ and the tial is around $220.

any reason not to go this route? I hear nothing but good things on this board about stuff from tial.

I have never heard of either one of them failing. They are both good wastegates. Although, I know more pro level cars and also more people that run high boost on engines that are tuned "on the edge" and they all trust Tial. That's also the route that I'll be going if it helps you at all. I would say go Tial, they have been on the top of the market for a long long time. But HKS is also a good company and I can't think of anything bad to say about them. Sorry that I couldn't hand you any more concrete information. Best of luck with making your choice.

I welds are ground away at the engein flange and then the pipe is cut to change the angle of the turbo (not a big change) so that my 1.15 P trim turbine will fit.

I got a flange for a Tial but the hole is 35mm, anyone need it? $12 shipped

I need a 38 flange

I have the HKS 40mm and have boost creep problems. I have a 10 psi spring but after 4000rpm it will creep to 17 psi. The valve is not big enough or it doesn't flow well. What turbo setup are you running?

60-1 .70 compressor, dry oil bearings, divided 1.15 P trim turbine, 3in turbo back exhaust.

the wastegate will be routed back into the exhaust.

Go on Supra forums, you should be able to pick up a 60mm HKS GT wastegate for around 400.00. I am running that on my supra, and I will probably run dual HKS standards on my RX7(I already own them, and my new mani calls for dual wastegates). You can never go to big on the WG
BTW I also have a 40mm Innovative, I may sell.
