Turbo leaking oil???

My buddy just got his single turbo installed but the problem is that it is freakin leaking a bunch of oil from the bottom of the turbo. He just got his car tuned and car wont boost after 4k rpm. Tuner said it could be the turbo / but again the turbo is brand new. The car seems to be running fine though the oil leak.

How can you tell if the turbo is no good?
Could it be the seals that have gone bad already?
Any advice would help
Thanx in advance.

How bad is the leak while the car is running? Is it coming from the oil return( oil out)flange of the turbo? Or is it coming from within the housing? It may be a missing or bad gasget on the oil return line. To test the turbo, grab onto the turbo shaft and see if you can feel any substancial amount of play up and down, side to side, front to back. Look for any visual damage to the fins from contacting the housing. Also look for damage to the housing. Aloha, Dave
