well im my opinin i think the same as you do, probably was a defective unit, also i heard that the position of the pump or the angle that is mounted can compromise the socket in the case of a powerfull pump as the 044. but inmy case that i didnt order the sockets from jayracing i will prefer ordering the ones at pegasus racing that its proved that will not colapse, im still waiting on the reply of jayracing according on this particular case.

The pegasus looks like a good option, but the hole is a bit central and depending on positiong of the pump in the tank it may not quite sit as well as it could.

The one I got from Jayracing looks exactly like that one from Pegasus racing.
The "fs 1hdw52" on the package looks like a part number by the company Fuel Safe.
The original plastic design shown on the Pegasus website has reliefs in the sides so the pump cannot suck the filter bottom up to the pump inlet and horribly restrict flow.
Unfortunately, the alum fittings we have been getting will do just this, the plastic frame on the outside cannot stop the pump from sucking the bottom of the filter up to the inlet.
I am pretty sure that is for Jayracing internal use so they know it goes with the Bosch Motorsports pump or it is listed like that to try and help sell it.

I took one for the team and came up for a solution for the manufacturing defect from the Jay Racing Bosch 044 Fuel sock!!!!
When its assembled, the anodized blue fitting on my fuel sock was pushed too deeply into the sock, causing it to be touching the bottom of the sock and choke out.
I cut open a Jay Racing sock to figure this out, but the fix is VERY simple.
When you get the brand new Jay Racing 044 fuel sock, pull theblue anodized fitting off the sock: It takes a bit of force, but she'll go; perhaps some leverage will help you out.
Once apart, you will then be able to put the blue fitting back into the sock, but just ever so slightly push it just about 1/8 of an inch into the sock.
The fitting should not hit the botom of the sock from then on out.

I took the adapter out of the sock filter and it was as I suspected.
It was just a metric to 1/4 npt fitting that happened to fit in the sock filter.
It fits in the hole so a monkey puts it in the hole and sells it, great engineering.
I am going to drill and chamfer holes perpendicular to the inlet at the bottom of the fitting so that I can push the fitting down into the sock to hold the sock open and still have a less restricted pick up.

I made my own 044 fuel filters because the Jay Racing filters don't fit in my surge tank, the filter element is 304 stainless dutch weave 60 micron.

my setup is for the stock fuel tank, the aluminum oval shaped surge tank replaces the stock plastic unit. i changed my mind on using an aftermarket fuel sending unit so now i need to rotate the pumps 90 degrees and mount closer to the edge of the lid so i can fit the stock fuel level sender.... what makes it look like its not for the stock tank?

why not just keep the stock pump in the tank and put the Bosch in a collector tank? You could put a filter before the collector tank, this would solve all problems of filtration and fuel slosh

Some of us just can't think of a good place to put the external swirl pot and pumps.

hello guys well thats a good idea indeed, i receive today my cj motorsports twin pump sistem and order the fuel socks from pegasus racing, but i need you guys help me choosing the right an fItings and fuel line size soletmeknow what you recomended me:
i have the twin pump from cj, dual bosch 044, and rx7 store xtreme fuel sistem but i dont know which line size to run from the pumps To the Y and them i pressume i will have to run a single bigger line to the injectors but i dont know which AN fittings for these 8AN 10AN 12AN i really suck at this so i will apreciate a litle help.

The fix for the fuel sock we came up with was simple. The anodized part is indeed a simple adapter fitting and someone managed to find a sock that squeezed on adequately. The shank the sock squeezes on is too long though (as has been noted). The sock has an internal structure to keep it from collapsing so all we need to do is keep the shank from bottoming out in the sock (as has been noted). I didn't like the idea of simply pulling the sock down on the shank (effectively raising the pumps about a 1/4" higher in the tank) so I cut down the shank. The sock can now be pushed all the way on to the shank without fear of the shank bottoming out inside the sock. Final length of the shank is .200". Plenty left for the sock to attach to. After I took the picture I decided to go back and radius the entry to the fitting.

My socks came from Jay Racing. Don't know anything about the Pegasus pieces.

Also, after SAABGUY's observation I was wondering if the pumps would be quieter after doing this work. They were not. But I never thought they were that loud in the first place.

Is this a standard AN fitting that you can buy at Summit or Jegs? Or is there something special about it that makes it a $29 fitting from Pegasus?
Also, how did you radius the inner portion of the fitting after you cut it down? Very good looking work. Curious how you achieved that finish as well as the procedure to actually radius it out.
