Rotary's have MUCH more exhaust energy than a I-6.... so if it works on a Supra... it will work (spool) better on a rotary.

thanx very much for the information, but i heard that it had much more to do with the liters in the car which has a lot to do with how fast the turbo spools

That is true but only in a piston engine, a rotary has way more exhaust energy and is generally hotter as well.. both work to spool a turbo very effectively. How would it be possible to run the same turbo used on a 3L 2JZ motor, but with much larger exhaust housings? A given turbo on a supra may use a .84 housing, while on a rotary guys are using 1.15 and larger.

I think to be in the middle of the T88H's compressor's efficiency range you would have to be running almost 30 psi on a 13b. So in other words, not a well suited turbo unless you are going all out drag.

Your talking in Supra Terms that supra owners run.. what RWHP are you looking for and you ready for some turbo lag?

An SP63 will spool by roughly 3700 RPM (pretty damn fast) and make 650-ish rwhp on a basic Supra depending on A/R.

I think my old T-78 was a great street set-up on an RX-7... the new 35/40 sounds awesome too.

Im thinking of going with a T-78 with a ballistic 79 compresor wheel.. someone on the forum has it.. sounds like a evil combo.. spool of a t-78 and power of a t-88..

The T88h I believe is just a normal T88 with a larger a/r. I could be wrong tho. You could spool it on your rotary, but as someone else said, it doesn't map out well on the 13B. I think the best street turbo for you would probably be something like a T78. Greddy makes a quality bolt-on kit and from what i understand people love it. Not ideal for the auto-x'ers who want quick spool mind you, but still a great street turbo!

Jason and I both have the T78 with the GT79 ballistic compressor. I had stock ports so it didn't spool very quickly but apparently, with a ported motor (intake/exhaust) it's a killer turbo.

To answer your question the T88H does have a much larger turbine housing then the regular T88, but inside that much larger turbine housing you will find a much larger and more aggressive turbine wheel to make some big HP I had to get the regular T88 kit and then get the T88H turbo seperate becasue Greddy does not offer it in a kit form and they also said it would not fit but they are idiots, it will fit just fine no different then the regular 88. This turbo is the same one that Titan is running in their Supra and is good for some serious boost levels. I plan on running around 28 - 30 PSI with this turbo and hope to hit the 600HP mark. A boy can dream right...

The best turbo is going to be determined by what type of engine its going on. There is no way to say which turbo is better than another without knowing what it will be installed on. The basic facts here that we do know is that the engine is a 13B. Theres a very big range of "best" turbos depending on application. Is the engine ported? Street, bridge? How big of that particular style port? Which intake manifold? What type of exhaust. Aftermarket intercooler? Standalone ecu? Upgraded fuel system? How much boost do you want to run? What octane fuel? Street racing (we don't endore this here ), drag racing, road courses? Where do you want the powerband to be? Where is redline? You get the idea. There are too many variables. Ernie's turbo works great for him but would be a decorative piece on my 1st gen even though they both have 13B's. It would be a sweet *** decorative piece though . My advice would be to find cars with similar setups and see what they are using. Find out how they drive their cars and then see if their goals meet yours. Without this you'll just be experimenting. They all may work great or they may all suck.
