it did say big shaft....
looking for 450 - 500 R.W. HP.
out of a RB30ET the motor built to make big numbers the only thing that will hold it back is the turbo, and i dont want something huge as i want it to spool quick
as with this set up right with that horse power should take me into the 11's if not a 10's and 100hp more into the 9's

sorry guy's i know this is a rotor (Rx-7 site) and im posting up a question about my
VL turbo , you probly dont even know what they are,
but as im from australia none of the forums have any info on turbonetics turbos as there a U.S turbo, and we have mosy japanies turbos here, but know the exchange rate is better i can buy U.S. stuff as it wont cost an arm and a leg like befor and iv always been very impressed with all the tool s iv bought made in the u.s. so i thought id give it a go.
so yeah any help reguarding if this turbo will do would be great
my options where: Turbonetics TO4S T-72, masterpower T60 ?

^^^ id say the T-78 would be out of my price range mate
so will the T-72 be ok ? probly be running 15 - 25 psi ?
its only oil cooled will this be a problem for an engine with out an oil cooler?
does this turbo have a quick spool time if set up correctly ?
and is it a reliable turbo ?
would it get damaged easyly without a B.O.V. (ie.shaft play or snapped shaft) ?

The turbonetics T 72 is a big turbo, at 72 and 100 compressor its much bigger than the MP T 60, its much bigger than the MPT70 ( i believe that has 70-91mm compressor ) .
And the T 72 is over kill for what your looking if you can say that. On the piston engine is closer to a 700-800 hp turbo.
So it will be on the laggier side.

I have no personal experience with that turbo So i cant say ( the T72 ) having a big inducer and exducer on the comp side will make it on the laggier side for sure, and if you want the 400-500 hp range, might as well get something with better responce for sure.
the garret To4R is probably going to give you the numbers you want and is actually cheaper than the turbonetics you said . ( its around the $ 900-$ 1100 range )
GT35/40R , probably can do it wicked responce, but I dont know how it will do on a 3.o litre.
probably one of the turbo gurus can tell you that have more experience with the bigger turbos.
but taking into account its same size motor as the toyotas 2jz, anything they choose might work for you also.
TO4R
T04Z if you have the extra $ 600 to spend
GT40/88
or the GT42 ( non BB cheaper )
edit:
yes the T72 is much bigger than the GT35r

oh well now im a bit worried if its heaps bigger than a GT35/40R cause if it is heaps bigger my bonnet might not close.
now this sort of throws things around as i was sure about buying it and now not knowing how much bigger than a GT 35/40 it is im unsure ?
and the GT 35/40R with the right rear houseing .87 i think is highly proven on my make a model car there are people here braking into the 9'second 1/4 mile times with them.
so you think the spool time would be alot slower on a T-72 ? opposed to a GT35/40.
what rev range do you think id hit full boost ?

this photo below is the same car as mine also useing the same exhaust manifold he's running a T70 i think its a masterpower one as you can see there's not a lot of room left and as you can see thats a decent size turbo is the T-72 bigger than this one
this next image is again same car same manifold with a GT35/40
and the last image is a GT42 is the TO4S T-72 the same size as this ? bigger, smaller,

the compressor housing is phisically the same size , the compressor wheel is different size.
So if the GT35 with the to4s front cover as shown fits, then the T72 should also fit ( as its also fitted with the to4s front cover )

so the GT35 shown above has the same size comp cover as a T-72 ?
meaning the first pic of the T70 would be bigger.
GT35 are rated at 700HP at like 35psi correct ?
what is a turbonetics TO4S T-72 rated at ?

Not too sure about the GT35 being the same as the T72 but I know the t70 is the same size. I've seen the t72 make over 750 on a piston engine. You should check out the new borg warner bullseye turbos. you can see them here:
