Thumbs up

Hey that's looking pretty good so far!
What EMS are you using, and how much boost are you aiming for?

Using the PFC and a Jabsco water pump. Everything is mocked up and fitting well. Sending the I/C back to the fabricator on Monday to weld in a fill-tank. Will run 14 psi. Have big HKS Racegate open to ground, but can't find a pic of it.

unless my eyes are failing me, it looks like you are using the standard HKS wastegate....

me and a few others have had problems with it creeping with a ported engine on the HKS manifolds above 7000rpm or so. I notice that you have a custom manifold - not sure what that might do to help or worsen the problem, but you might want to look into the race wastegate from HKS since the piston and dump opening are both quite a bit larger.

That's a S.F.P. turbo manifold.
I can also remember when they borrowed a 3rd gen single turbo downpipe from me to make a copy of it!

The manifold is about $800 with Jet-Hot coating. It's the manifold Ari Yallon was using, I believe, on his race car. It is very nice. Other manifolds can be had for less but I'm very happy with this one. My goal is to have a lot o' bullet-proof power, if such a thing is possible. That's a refreshed '94 JDM motor from RP. It's not ported - injectors bored out 700/1200 from RC and Fluidyne radiator, fuel pump, PFC, GReddy ProfecB, ss MP, TurboTimer from and installed by RP 2 years ago. PFS cat-back in place (PFS intake, I/C, and PMS Pink 9 sold to my friend who's running an extremely fast RP street-port engine dyno'd by them. I mean his car is outrageously fast on stock injectors and runs great. He also has the PFS software for his piggy back). But I ramble - I'm hoping for at least 390 - 420 RWHP.

Thanks to all for the kind words and I hope to have more photos soon. Mark

P.S. That's Freddie fabbing the turbo oil return pipe - looks like he's been hittin' the sauce. He's the best RX7 and automotive guru, business partner, and friend anyone could have.

Intresting... is it going to be all right making the oil drain from a solid tube? Do you think the expansion and contraction of the manifold is just going to be minimal?

Yep, that's their Stamp on it. The Primaries are TOO Large, and you lose velocity and spooling slows down.
The only good thing about their manifold is that they are sturdy.

It is heavy duty, but it's definately not Crispeed's. His are downright a work of art.

Looks nice. I have a similar setup being installed right now. Maybe we can comp. numbers when we're done.

You're saying then some noticeable turbo lag as a result?

if you loose anything down low I'm sure you will more than gain it up top where that T66 shines

maybe the manifold is thick-walled mild steel. that could explain w/ it looks so damn big. what's the i.d. on the primaries? anything over 1 7/8 in. i'd say is pushing it if you want decent spool and street drivability. damn this is a lot of overkill for 400rwhp, i've never even heard of someone using a air to water ic for hp this low. i like the whole setup though.

i'm surprised you wouldn't get it ported since the you had the motor torn down anyway. even a mild job would net you a lot of hp w/ a turbo that big.

It's my bad

because I was going to do everything to the motor, but some things happened with my health and I wasn't and am still uncertain of some outcomes. So, I'm just getting the car finished. I passed on the porting and the exotic apex seals. I think it'll still be fast. I may build up the motor that came outta the car as it is still good although worn; average compression for 80K mi., but not broken.

You have plenty of fuel with the 850/1600 set up, even if you up your mods such as going bridgeported, you should still have enough.

They aren't too big though... generally if you tune things right, it's hard to have too much fuel for your rotary. Keep your set up - it's nice.
