Question T51r Kai Bb

Anyone have any stats on the new T51R (t52r?) KAI BB turbo...someone on this thread mentioned it was 1000rpm quicker spool which would be 3,000rpm which would be awesome, but someone else I was talking to who runs a T51R KAI nonBB said they only spool 500rpm quicker, which I'm not sure if that would warrant all the extra money...anyone know how the responce is as opposed to say a HKS T04R or even a GT35/40??? Joe (T51quicksilver), I heard you have some experience with these units...any comments?

Thx!

HKS lists on it's spec sheet that the KAI BB spools only 11% quicker than the NON-BB KAI. And yes that turbo is almost 2x as much for only 400-500rpm(depending on full spool prior) quicker spoolup. Not worth it in my opinion depending on what you're doing with the car.

I asked Rob @ Pineapple if I needed dowels with my 600rwhp goal. He laughed and said no.

So exactly when are dowels neccesary?
Is it complete overkill to do it if 500rwhp was the goal, or can it be seen as some extra insurance?

650 rwhp at 20 psi (1.4 bar) is pretty good. I've seen similar set-ups making that power at 25-28 psi.
Do you have a dyno graph?

i could see dowels as being very useful on high torque high hp cars. i mean our motors are just plates stacked one on top of the other. on top of that, each succesive plate is made of a different material, with different rates of expansion and different resistances to torsional forces. i'd think any additional reinforcement is good as long as you can afford it. this would be especially true for motors that are expected to last a long time.

The KAI has a 70mm compressor wheel and the SPL has a 76mm, everything else is the same between the two. Everyone says the SPL has a lot more lag the KAI, that has not been my experience though...
