T78 and AC tube question.

Hi all.

I am doing a single job this winter with a GReddy T78 kit. It looks straight forward, but there is one thing that has come up. The AC-tubes running from the firewall interferes with the new turbo. Has anyone else done this, and stayed with there AC? I would like to have the AC, but if it has to go....it goes.

Looking forward to your posts.

BTW, it's a LHD-car

You could probably bend the pipes out of the way, just make sure you don't kink them.

Every T-78 install I've seen has had the AC components removed.

Eric.

I had the same issue with my rx6. All I did was bend the tubing up and then screw clamped them to the wheel well. I also wrapped them in hi-temp heat insulation. DEH and thermotec makes some good wrap.

I made 2 Heat shields for my RX6 Kit. I also used protective sleeves that I bought from Thermotec. Unfortunately the T-78 is bigger than the RX6 so you might not have the same option. The air cond. lines are fragile and will break if you are not careful.

I relocated my condenser and modified some lines. I sleeved them to make them longer and re-bent them so I wouldn't have to have custom ones made. This could be a cheap option for you also.

It doesn't get HOT in Cali? Unless you live in El Cajon or somewhere East of Riverside.

Strange...I did not have to move my a/c lines or anything for that matter, to install the T78. I have a 95 touring however, and perhaps there's a difference between R1/2 and the touring?

Smile I'll just go for it...

Hi.

I got the Euro-spec. It's somewere between the R-versions, and the touring I think. Got 2 oilcoolers up front, and also leather int, ac, sunroof, etc..

I'm going to try to stay witht the AC. Will try to fit the Turbo this upcoming weekend. I'll let you know how it works out.

ciao

ihave a t78 in my r1, with a/c. This past september i had to replace my low pressure line because the turbo had rubbed a hole in the line, the new one is now wrapped with some high temp stuff and i also tried to bend the line to get it to go underneath the turbo. Basically the next problem i ran into is that it pushed the t78 out and up a little and the piping coming right off the turbo is rubbing the hood now. If you know someone who could do it or whatever i would suggest custom A/C piping, it won't be easy to bend the stock one around the turbo. YOu can do a search by my user name for like 3 or 4 months ago and see what i was dealing with - actually it might've been june or july now that i think about it.
