t51r help....
t51r help....
Hello again. Well I just pulled my t51r kai turbo off due to the cone nut coming off and eating the **** out of the comp wheel. I was going to just send the turbo off and have it rebuilt and thought the engine would be fine. But after taking the turbo off I am not to sure. The comp wheel was eaten up bad... I was around full boost when it came off..... 21lbs of boost. what do you guys think I should do I have not even tried to turn the motor over since... what’s the possibility of the motor being gone too? What’s the next step?
Thanks Landen

pull the whole inlet and exhaust off and clean them out. Get down low and slowly turn over the motor and look into the exhaust port when the apex seal goes by check it for bits of metal. If you have metal I would rebuild it. However you can clean the metal out if you use heaps of auto trans oil in a oil can and a cutdown toothbrush. I would use a camera to look into the inlet ports, and if it is small enough you can checkout the rotor face and housing through the exhaust. Take your time do it slow.

Well I did a compression test the motor is showing to be in great shape. Now I am wondering what the turbo is going to cost. I have been trying to get a hold of a-spec to see but I have not been able to reach of them.

This seems a little too common, I remember years ago being over at RP in dallas and seeing a T51R in a box that was trashed from the comp nut spinning off. You'd think HK$ would have the smarts to give it a reverse-thread nut......
