Well after looking through a few of my references I found something interesting of note.
This same series "exact same housing trims" T51 Garrett turbo was used by HART (old F1 turbo engine supplier) on their 1.5lt 4cyl engine, they used the same housing trims both front and rear with what looks from the technical drawings fairly similar sized exhaust wheel/housing, the compressor cover is identical dimensions and a/r (though the compressor looks a tad smaller).
In 1984 on Aviation Fuel the engine made 640bhp to 670bhp @ 3 bar (abs) or 2 bar "gauge" pressure or around 29psi and was making this @ 10500rpm, it's effective boost range stretched from 6500rpm to 11000rpm (maximum revs of the engine), they raced with this combination in Monaco.... If anyone can remember that far back this was the race that Ayrton Senna came to prominance by dominating the rain soaked event and came within laps of wining it before the race was red flaged by French officials so Alain Prost could take the win !!!! I got some in car video of these T51 equipped cars, some other with large Holset and KKK singles, and they look realy responsive (yes at higher revs) and show no signs of lag once above 6k on a 1.5lt engine.
I would say with my large porting I have done and another 1.1lt of capacity I should have no problem running a power band of between 5k and 9k especially when you consider I am running 9.0:1 compression v's the Hart engines 6.7:1 ! + if it can be driven around Monaco, I would say it will make an excellent circuit turbo Oh yeah I looked back over that famous SCOOT dyno video and he made peak torque at 7100 rpm and peak power at 7400rpm on a partial PP with a very similar style turbo (single entry exhaust housing, with a bit smaller wheels from the posted specs before) so I should be right. A guy in Australia here runs the exact same one as I just ordered and makes peak power at 8700rpm on a street port but with a much shorter greater volume intake manifold, so touch wood it should all be OK
Now I am gonna go fit the barstard
