if you have a good port the to4r will spool damn near like the stock turbo's and that is with a P-trim wheel and a a/r 1.0 exaust housing on my car.. If you run an apex seal threw the exaust side you can get a P trim standard shaft from turbonetics for less than $180 and fix it. you can buy a bearing/seal overhaul kit for $80 and you've got a good as new turbo. If you need a center housing you can get that for around $80 as well. If you kill the compressor side your fucked, but you could easily just buy a 62-1 or other standard shaft compressor assembly to replace it for around $500 or so. You usually won't hurt the compressor side however unless you put it together wrong and back spin the nut off, suck somthing in to it or keep on driving the car with totally fucked bearings.. this is why you should check shaft play and thrust play on a turbo at least once a month to catch this and you'll be able to tell when they are going bad before there is any damage to the compressor housing components.. I did have one of my back plates go bad before where the front seal on the thrust collar sit's so I got a 62-1 back plate and had it machined out to the same specs as the to4r one for $30... Anyway bascily for $340 you can completly overhaul the To4R turbo as opposed to running some super fancy high $$ ball bearing turbo and running a piece of apex seal threw it and being fucked most ball bearing turbo's don't like hight shaft rpms and will go to **** under high boost / thrust pressures as well... The To4r also sells for around $2500 over here.. 5K would be for the whole kit including the manifold and wastgate and all the other hardware includign the front pipe needed to do the single turbo conversion from sombody like panspeed etc.. It would be cheaper to just buy the turbo and get the rest of the stuff from the USA.
