T 60-1 Mega Lag, PLease Help
Hey guys,
I have a T 60-1 hifi with a P trim and .96 undivided exhaust housing on an SFP manifold with the HKS standard wastegate. I have it connected to a Profec B controller. The problem is it won't get full boost until 5500 rpm! It holds boost fine once it gets there and the profec does make a difference as far as what boost level it hits once it gets there, but it takes forever to get there. My engine is a stock port in decent shape. Are there any dead giveaways for this sort of problem?
thanks

Marshall you are right, you should be building full boost (whatever psi) way before 5500 even with that .96. That sounds like you are running a 1.0 T76 on your car.

Banned. I got OWNED!!!
What is your ignition timing like? this can cause major delays in boost, also if the mixture is realy rich.
That turbo with all systems running ok (good WG, no leaks etc) will make full boost by 4K with that a/r rear on a 13B rotary, unless you got a real restrictive exhaust system.

Marshal, I got a similar size turbo in a customer car and it is running a stock porting, the thing goes off like a grenade once revs hit 3500rpm ! full boost by 4k easy.
It is either tunning or something in the control system or external hardware that is causing it to boost so late I think?

You are too rich or your ignition system can't handle the AF you are running. If either, you will not make power till that point .... I know from personal experience! Be sure you are running some good race plugs and then start taking out some fuel.

I had the same problem with my setup. I blamed it on 16 bends in my Greddy FMIC between the turbo outlet and the throttle body inlet... one of them a complete 180 degree bend. I was also running a fairly restrictive exaust (Racing Beat turbo back system, minus the downpipe).
What exhaust are you using? What intercooler?

Hey guys,
Thanks for the responses. Right now I'm running it with a M2 Stage III ecu just to get everything back together. I am running an open downpipe and Greddy FMIC with minimal bends. I may have had a leak in the intercooler couplings, I'm going to go check on that now. Judging from the lack of carbon buildup of the wastegate outlet, it hasn't been open much at all. Hope its just a boost leak cause if the wg is closed and I'm still not getting boost, something is very very wrong!
thanks

Didn't see any damage when I installed the .96 housing. I did find that one of the wg lines has been compromised -the one that goes to the rearmose nipple on the wg. Would that do it? I thought the wg would stay closed if the happened -maybe its the other line that causes that?
