Sucking Knowledge from YOU! to4b-h
Hey whats up team, i really am in a bind and need some help
I just recently purchased a hybrid s5 Turbonetics Upgrade... It has a stock s5 hotside ported wastegate to4b-h compressor housing with a 60-1 Compressor wheel, but has excessive shaft play and needs to be rebuilt. I phoned Turbonetics to find out some more information and they were helpful, but i didn't find out what i wanted to know... They said that i couldn't rebuild it myself because they put it on their "Vs-R" machine that spools the turbo up to balance it properly.. I think they were giving me the run around.. because apparently "every" part has to be balanced... My question is, can i rebuild this myself? Or does infact every part need to be balanced, is this a t3-t4 hybrid? Or a 60 series?

It should be balanced. Could you get away with not doing it? Maybe. In theory you should be able to just mark the relationship of the compressor wheel to the turbine, and upon reassembly put them back to their original spot. I have done that once, and didn't have any problems, and I know several other ppl who have done that too. However I still just balance them, especially for customers. Usually its for low turbine speeds that the assembly needs to be balanced.

Alright, awesome... Thanks alot for the help... As for my next question Will a rebuild kit for a stock s4 or s5 hitatchi rebuild kit work for this turbo? Or do the seals change when the Compressor housing and compressor wheel is upgraded? The centre section is stock s5
