Not really. The issue here is you need a coil designed for high output for a rotary (those don't exist) or for a two stroke (those do exist). High output piston motor coils don't cut it for rotary applications as they simply can't run at two or four times duty cycle and continue to generate the same spark they can at one ignition even every other revolution like a 4-stroke coil. It's just a different internal coil design.

Remember the IGN1A was originally designed as a two-stroke high output marine racing coil... so the first design constraint was super-fast recharge time, with high spark output and long spark duration. The rotary requires *twice* the ignition events per rotation compared to a standard piston engine. This is why the best LS coils (D585's) even being a similarly high output coil - don't actually have the same spark output when you double (or quadruple) the duty cycle, and also fail over time on a rotary, they were designed by GM to generate a similar spark output, but not at this high frequency. You're asking them to fire at twice (or 4x on a waste spark setup) duty cycle. Obviously, OEM's design beyond their requirements for durability, but an LS revs to 6500 on a good day? Putting it in piston terms, the rotary revs to 9,000x2 = 18,000 RPM for a direct fire setup, and 9,000 x 4 = 36,000 RPM for a waste spark setup (power FC or stock ECU). The LS coil can generate a hot spark in normal piston use, but that's 1 ignition event every two RPM's per cylinder. We double that, and then double again for waste spark.

R-magic factory igniter replacement I have already mentioned.

There you nailed it. Guess I'll need to pull the plug on the Sakebomb unit

I would love to get the kit but when converted to nzd the kit is almost 1000 dollars, i just paid 1150nzd for my borgwarner 360, what can you tell me to justify the kit being worth almost as much as my turbo lol

That your car wont move without an ignition system.

Making brackets for IGN01As isn't rocket science. Buy coils from DIY auto (or as n NZ supplier), make your bracket(s) and get leads made at your local parts supplier if you don't want to spend on their kit.

Aramir's car is still going to move with stock ignition system... I guess the point is whether it's worthwhile to invest in a new ignition system. I do have a budget for my build, but I'd rather spend money on whatever is necessary.

However with FD, modding the car is like going down a rabbit hole

If he's making horsepower its just a matter of time before the stock coils eat it in my opinion. Either way, that was a stupid comment.
