I may have to move from Florida where I don't have to deal with such things. I have no smog pump and a mid-pipe. I mean, will running an electric pump air pump and cat cut it. More the towards the safety inspection aspect verses the smog testing.




Thinking about central VA or NC but info from other states with vehicle inspections that don't require smog testing would be useful.

 

In Massachusetts vehicles 15 years or older are not required to test for emissions only safety.

 

Certain parts of Texas there are no emissions. In east Texas there is no testing.

 

South Carolina has NO inspections... I'd imagine we never will.

Also, in SC there is the added benifit of GREAT WEATHER!!!

 

Florida has state inspections?

 

I have a fire breathing rx7 that passed in MA...its all safety. If there is no check engine light your good to go unless there is a visual defect- oil leak, coolant leak, heavy smoking...but for most part shops will let that go because of age and again there's no check engine.

 

I just reg mine as collectable in nj and no inspection req
