smallest IC feasible for a gt-35/40

hey every1,
Im doing some long range planning right now for my GT35/40 conversion. And originally i was going to go with a v-mount for cooling, but i recently decided to use a water injection system, so im gonna stick with a SMIC and use radiator ducting to keep my water temps down, since the w.i. renders the IC as a backup. My question is what is the smallest SMIC that i can use that will support the 35/40's flow? I'm looking for throttle response out of this smaller IC as well, so plmk.

thanks,
-Zach

Even with the water injection, I would still use at least something in the "medium" size range for that application -- PFS, ASP/M2 medium, Pettit CoolCharge II (old model).

large is no go....i dont need the HUGE cooling capacity cuz of the WI....not to mention the throttle response is worse

Um, I missed the part where it became common knowledge that you could regulate the IC to BACKUP functionality when you use WI. Can I borrow your cliff notes on it? What are you supporting this logic with? I'll take math or english

He is just saying that the intercooler is only a backup to the WI. In otehr words, if the water injection fails, the IC needs to function on a level to keep the car from detonating.

I will at some point be running without an IC, using just my water injection.

the IC is rendered completely useless when the WI is active, because the WI cools the intake air far better than any IC on the market....but if i should run out of water or the pump should fail, the IC keeps my car from detonating. My car will be tuned to run perfectly with the IC, but the WI gives me that NICE safety cushion.

Team...you know if you run out of water your an idiot!!! Unless of course your water tank breaks...that happen to me last week!!! Make sure you have a sturdy container and some cushion under and around it and have it strapped in real good. I got me a 2 gallon container...

yeah i know i wouldnt deserve to even own a FD if i let the water tank run out, im just throwing it out as one of the possibilities. I also want to keep my donut spare in there, so is there a way to mount a tank in the storage bin? I think that space would be good for a 1.5gal tank.

well, if your tank is in the 1 bin, the pump needs to be in the other, remember the tank cant be higher than the pump, must be level or lower or it will not work. Trust me, I went through 3 weeks of hell figuring this **** out. You can fit a 2 QT container and the pump back int he area where the turn signals are in the hatch or you can get really creative.

I left my spare at the track last fall and I figure I have not needed my spare since 1987 in my VW, I'll just call AAA.

also back to the topic...would a M2 SMIC be my best bet for a balance between throttle response and minimal bottle-necking?

you cant hear it. its not that its silent, the engine turbos drown out the sound. the only thing I can hear is when the water first gets sucked it slurps, kinda funny.
