single turbo conversion shopping list and recommendations!!!
Please put in your thoughts and advices on my future single turbo conversion needs.
Since I am rebuilding my engine and refurnishing my whole FD, I also plan to convert into the Single Turbo.
My limited amount of fund to this project will be 12k. I will be doing all the labor myself. Would also like to learn how to tune it myself. So any advices will be gladly apprecaited.
I am also trying to keep my AC and Power steering, these are a must have =).
So my list and needs recommendations for each category other than the turbos.
Engine rebuild kit: Atkins Master rebuild kit ($1750)
Turbo: 500R from A-Spec ($3,700)
Fuel system: ultimate fuel system from rx7store.net, any other recommendations?
ignition system: HKS twin power ignition from rx7store.net, any other recommendations?
cooling system: I wanted a V-mount, what would be good that doesn't require much fabrication? I am thinking about the one from rx7store.net, any other recommendations?
Intakes: recommendations?
Exhaust: Dual Tip RB exhaust
ECU: Power FC
Anything I've forgotten, please chip in you opinion. Thank you very much!!!

If the FD extreme fuel system kit is anywhere near as overpriced and lame as the FC extreme fuel system kit, I would ditch it and build it custom. They just threw some injectors, fittings, and a fuel rail in a box without proper mounting hardware or instructions. And when I called about it they basically implied that I am an idiot when I said I needed some instructions (which they don't have for the FC kit, I am not sure about FD but I doubt it).

I mean other than yourself, have any1 else had any problem with the RX7store fuel system? Please input your thoughts, thank you.

Something really important that I've forgotten to mention is, with pump gas, I am trying to archieve 400-450hp. Please recommend and advise me towards the right path; for this is my first car that would be heading over the 400 number. Thanks in advance.

If you want 450RWHP then I would suggest porting your engine when rebuilding it. With the a ported motor and 500R you should be able to hit that at 17psi as long as you have the correct supporting mods. Intercooler, ECU, fuel pump, Twin Power, full exhaust, clutch are required. I would also go with some sort of Meth injection system. With Meth you can easily run 19+psi on pump gas if you choose.
Most important mod is a good tune.

CJ motorsports makes a quality product and ive been running one for years. They also make walboro dual pump carriers for ease of installation and more fuel potential. There kit is priced very competitive to most shops and you get EVERYTHING for install, plus its very straight forward. If you like shoot me over a PM and I can help set you up.

Most people run our system or some variation of it sold by another company. We use KG parts rails as do a few other companies. We all use the same 1680cc injectors, Aeromotive regulator and fittings. All of these systems will provide you with enough fuel.

Fast + Reliable = $$$$$

Couple things I would throw in there...
Xcessive LIM
FJO injector driver
Dual oil coolers
Ceramic coat the manifold and DP
Resonated midpipe (I like my magnaflow in my MP, it sounds nice with the RB duals)
Oh and don't forget to research clutches and fuel pumps...

exedy twin disc all the way, my mostest favoritest clutch ever. it's got a lot of bite, but is still nice on the street.
turboimport.com for the twin power w/ harness
and also consider getting some 10.5 plugs if you're running that much power.

Another question just came in mind. I've read about emission block off plates? Are those necessary for the single turbo conversion? If it is necessary, I will be also looking into getting that done since everything will be in the open. So let me know =) Thanks in advance.
