I would have to agree on the KABOOM theory! But it does look nice for now. We'll see if it works. Maybe they'll get smart and put some kind of heat shield between the turbo and motor. That would help some although it would be ugly as all hell.

I don't know who's it is, but i do know that he has been helping with the project. He has sent me pics over AIM of the progress. I think it looks good.

It does suck that the turbo is infront of the engine, but on the bright side, it is a turbocharged rx8.

How much boost did you decide to run XtremeHKS?

Props on the effort and workmanship. But if the motors are blowing in stock form something like that will definetly grenade that motor. Shame to see all the hard work go up in smoke....but then again thats how a lot of people got to where they are by experimenting. Good luck with it.

At least he is the first to try it. At least give him props for that. I do agree that the apex seals may need to be upgraded just as in our FDs.

apex seals wont be the problem in the new renesis motors, more likely it will be side seals. Side seals are what will be exposed to the hot exhaust (just like our apex seals are). Should be interesting to see how things work out......

Couldn't they have built the motor with lower compression rotors? Or will the ones from our cars not fit?

No exhaust scraper side seal in the older rotors. I dunno if you could machine a groove for it.

Don't do it!

I went to Japan in September and talked to engineers from Mazda. They said the motor is already at the max. That's why they lowered the claimed power to make more reliable.

They spent thousands of $$$ just to get an extra 10 hp and the motor is not as strong compared to the FD. It was economically built. So putting a turbo is definitely not an option.

Well, I can tell you right now that part of the reason that the Renesis engine blows in stock form probably has something to do with Ford trying to kill Mazda...

Really. If that is true than these motors suck. I find it hard to believe they would put out anything less then the old rotary motors! That would be suicide.

All rotory motors have improved with age/design.
