Thumbs up Rate my setup

So I bought my car already converted to single turbo.

However, it was an ebay build, minus the motor that is a pretty healthy street port with about 30k on the rebuild.

I have since removed the motor and will be upgrading everything that is ebay or crap.

Here is the list of mods (some I already purchased and some I will be getting):

1. Turblown TD61 ball bearing liquid cooled with 1.00 divided A/R with HKS style anti surge housing.
2. XSPower T4 manifold. I know it's still a cheap manifold but I can 't justify a $700 difference for a custom manifold just yet.
3. Synapse 50mm wastegate
4. Synapse BOV
5. Rotary Works 90mm TB
6. Full CJM fuel rail kit. (not sure if I want to run full parallel yet)
7. 550cc top feed primaries and 1650 top feed secondaries.
8. Either a defined vmount or a custom setup
9. PFC with single turbo converted harness.
10. 3" V-band DP with some kind of resonated midpipe and a Tanabe touring Medalion exhaust.
11. deleted OMP
12. AEM meth injection kit
13. ACT 6 puck sprung clutch
14. Power steering delete
15. A/C delete
16. 3 bar map sensor
17. Coil pack relocation (if that's possible)
18. Banzai oil pan brace
19. Himni motor mounts
20. Walboro 255

That's all I can think of off hand right now. My intentions of this build is a grip car since I live rather close to Willow Springs Raceway and I want to be able to have fun. I'm only listing engine power/reliability mods since this is what I'm attacking first in this build. Suspension and aero will be discussed in the appropriate subforums.

My power goals (shooting high) is 450whp but I would be happy with 400whp. I would like to stay around 15-16 psi on this setup and from the research I've done so far, my goals are feasible with this setup...

If anyone has any input, criticism, trash talk, etc, by all means chime in!!

i would rather have Elliot at turblown build me a custom manifold for that nice turbo your getting and keep your stock Throttle body. you will want a nice flowing manifold for that turbo and xs power ebay is not a great match for the td61.

get a aeromotive stealth 340 lph instead of the walboro 255 lph, there are only 50.00 more than walboro.

What would be the issues with going with the rotary works TB? This is just out of curiosity.

I'll pm the guy I bought it from and ask if he had any issues. If anything, I'll be hitting you up for what to seal and how to seal it

Good advice here. A quality manifold is worth it, especially with track duties. For a 450whp goal, I would also would highly recommend a Stealth or Walbro 400.

1. Rotary Works TB - As mentioned, some have reported excessive leaking issues. If your car is going to be a track only car, then if there are no leaks, no issue with keeping it. However, for a street or dual purpose car, the OEM TB will work best. Considering your power goals, I would sell the Rotary Works TB and put the money towards a proper manifold. Some report transitional driving to be harder for single butterfly pieces of that size.

2. Fuel - I highly recommend Bosch EV14 high impedance injecotors. These not only plug directly in to the harness with no need for a resistor or driver, but their atomization is superior. They also respond better to higher duty cycles if more fuel is needed. I am using the 720/2000 combo. You may recognize the Injecor Dynamics as these. For realistically priced quality EV14's give www.injectorconnection.com . Ask for John. He knows exactly what sizes you need for different rails. You can also review this thread for fitment. You can of course pay twice the price for the magical amazing ID's injectors.... https://www.rx7club.com/showthread.p...ector+dynamics

3. Vmount - Great choice! By far the most superior IC/Rad setup. With track duties in mind, good ducting and a vented hood should be in order.

4. Oil cooler - Obviously not a part of the single setup, but you should definitely be running at the least OEM duals. Again, with a track car in mind, you may want to consider larger coolers.

5. Coil relocation - Good move. I relocated mine on the drivers side frame rail, just below the steering arm. This is out of the heat, and doesn't require different length spark plugs. I have never had issues with rain or anything like that, though my car has only been driven in the rain a few times. You can make a plate to mount them up, it's pretty easy.

6. Ceramic coating - I highly recommend this. Polishing manifolds is for the birds. If you want a function and form solution to heat then cermic coating it is. Cheramicrome is my choice. I had my upper, lower manifold, water pump housing, & filler neck. Exhaust manifold and downpipe is also a great choice. This stuff is trick. http://www.irperformance.com/service...ance-coatings/

Crap I didn't even mention oil coolers. Yes, I plan on running those. The car came with some terrible dual setup and I'm going to make a new dual 20-30 row setup trying to use some of the spare parts to try and keep costs down.

I will more than likely give Elliot a call next week to place an order on a manifold. I'll hang on to the TB for the time being and see if I like it or not. It doesn't take much to swap them out, so if I don't like it, no problem!

As for the ceramic coating, I do plan on doing that in the future. I'm just trying to find someone local to me to get it done.

I'm kind of on hold right now while I wait for Elliot to finish my manifold but I have since gotten the motor as clean as I feel necessary and sent a sponsorship off to AEM Electronics to try and run their methanol injection and their gauges.

We shall see!
