racegas + wideband?

i have 110 octane leaded fuel easily available at a pump here where i go to school for 3.75 a gallon. i have a plx m300 wideband with the bosch sensor, and i'm wondering how much racegas i ran run through it before it will start to hurt it?

i have only run about a half-tank of straight 110/premix through so far, but i'm going to start buying more of this fuel because its only like $1.20 more than 93 octane, so why not... i'm jsut worried about the 02 sensor.

anyone have any input on this?

my innovate lm1 says the 02 sensor should last 500hours, with leaded gas it says 50 hours..

It took 1/2 tank c16 and 1/2 tank 110 aviation fuel to kill my sensor.

Lc1/xd1 and bosch sensor also had about 200 hrs of pump gas on it.

i spoke with innovate tech support and they reccomended useing this if you premix or use race fuels. they said it woud extend the life of the sensor.

I ran the Miata most of the summer two years ago on race gas and the sensor lasted long after that car was gone. Results may vary. FWIW, I've found the sensors for around $38. About cheap enough to not worry about hurting them.

Just installed my Innovative kit. Awsome kit so far. Supposed to be far better then the AEM setup. So $38 for a WB o2? Where please? I would like to keep a spare in the car just in case. I remember hearing about getting them at the local VW dealer. Anyone have the VW part number? Thanks!

Napa isn't the place to start looking for deals on parts.

The PLX uses the Bosch LSU sensor. The Innovative does also if I'm not mistaken. They are OEM application parts in some VWs, Porsches, Audis, Volvos, and, Cadillacs. Use VW part number 021-906-262-B. Cheapest place I've found is www.1stVWParts.com. ~$38 + shipping. They are a direct fit for the PLX.

damn ludwig, good call on that part number

also: how am i supposed to know when my sensor is dead or close to death? AFAIK, they just start reading slower and stop responding (atleast i know thats what the narrowband o2 sensors do)

anyone?

the LM1 can use the plx sensor however if memory serves, you have to open up the unit and change a jumper..

did it progressively start reading more and more lean? or did it just jump to lean out of nowhere?

Mine is reading leaner than normal after race gas. It's always around 14:1 all the way through the powerband. I hope that just means the sensor is dying.

I believe the Bosch Model is LSU4 or 4.2 and they both use the same sensor. Cheapass price, good call. I was about to get another for $80

it appears that 2 full tanks of straight 110 leaded and a coupe half-tanks has killed my o2 sensor. it reads very slowly and once you get into boost and there is more fuel in the exhaust it sticks right at 13.15:1AFR and doesnt budge until i get back into vacuum and it leans out.

I have an Bosch L1H1 sensor(Tech Edge 1.5). AFAIK this is the same sensor used by motec, and other high end widebands, my sensor has several hundred gallons of 110 on it, and works perfectly. The car runs 10.5:1 at WOT at 20 psi, and idles at ~13:1. It does not like leaner idle than that. I was thinking of putting an LC1 in the car, but if the sensors are only good for a couple hundred miles, it may be a better deal to stick with the high end sensor at four times the price.... Carl

"typical" sign of a 02 sensor going bad is when the repsonse time is alot slower

yeah i guess i'll just get a new one. i saw it stick at 13.15 when i boosted and i crapped a small bit in my pants. then i realized it wasnt moving and realized my motor would have already popped if it were reading correctly. lol
