An R2 with 470 rwhp!!!!

Ok listen up...what I need is this
All the equipment that I will need to buy to go single turbo. I want about 470 hp to the rear wheel and I want streetability and realiability. The mods I have so far are...
Catback
Medium Intercooler
Downpipe
Pettit ECU (not the unlimited one)
Cool Air intake

WHat should I keep what should I sell? What turbo would give me the best response and the most power (470 rwhp)?

WHat do I need for my final goal? The car has been retired and I am buing a convertible to get me over my future non-RX-7 days until it is fixed and fixed right.

COME ON GUYS DON'T LET ME DOWN!!!!

sell the intake, ecu, downpipe, and the intercooler.

What you are gonna need:
T-78 kit (17-20 psi)
1600s on the secondary
Biger fuel pump
Good street port
FMIC (front mount intercooler)
fuel pressure regulator
Haltech or any other controlable ECU you want to run
and a few other things here and there.

Thanks for info..
SO I need to sell all of my stuff, huh? I will wait until I get all the items and then sell my old parts. As for the ECU, do I have to go Haltech or can I go PFC? The car will be more of a daily driver that does a little street racing I know the price is the about the same but the install of the Haltech is so much more complicated. How much is the install for the Haltech? And is it worth it for my applications? ANd one more question, about the street Port how agressive should I port the engine if I want a daily driver? Thanks

PFC will work fine.. IT just isn't as nice. . and has lower resolution.. 470RWHP is on the high side BTW... but 450RWHP should be pretty easy.. Also make sure the motor is built well..

You need to buy my car and then turn the boost to 20psi and you should be over your goal!!!!. With the mods listed in my sig I made 442rwhp at 17psi. And I know that with 20psi mine will make around 500rwhp. BUt I wouldent run 20psi on pump gas.

Get some C16. There's a gas station 30 minutes from me that has a pump for it There's also a speed shop 10 minutes away that sells it.

442rwhp @ 17psi how fast is that puppy? Was this on pump gas?

I'd love to buy your T-78 but, I am only gonna buy the small things right now. For example, the radiator, fuel pump, injectors and etc...The last thing I will buy will be the turbo and intercooler (b/c they will cost the most).

When you say make sure the motor is built well.. what exactly do you mean? Port job, HD apex seals?

This is what I need anybody wanna add there comments?

T-78 kit (where should I buy this?)
1600s on the secondary (what kind and where should I buy this?)
Bigger fuel pump (what kind and where should I buy this?)
Good street port (where???)
FMIC (what kind and where should I buy this?)
fuel pressure regulator (what kind and where should I buy this?)

What about a knock sensor or ignition system are these mandatory when going single turbo? Remeber I want it to be a daily driver? But I also want to be able to KILL Vipers

Standard bolt ons with stock twins at 13-14psi will kill Vipers.

Your also going to need other things besides the go fast mods. You'll need a new rear end, clutch, and a upgraded PPF (power plant frame). With over 450 at the wheels launching the car will break the rear and the stock ppf like a twig. Thats another $1500 worth of parts to throw in the mix.

You also need a ROTORY tuner that know what he's doing and has had experience tuning single turbo rx7's at high boost on pump fuel.

I'd wait for one of the new computers that coming out, either the AEM or the new Haltech....they both use a wideband and create thier own maps. You just tell it the a/f ratio you want and it does the rest.

Just so we know, what kind of et are you wanting though the 1320??? Do you know how fast a 470rwhp 3rd Gen would be??? Its not the same as say a 470rwhp Supra. With a good driver, suspension, and slicks it would be a low 10 second car.

Later,
STEPHEN

Ok so now my lists is -->
T-78 kit (where should I buy this?)
1600s on the secondary (what kind and where should I buy this?)
Bigger fuel pump (what kind and where should I buy this?)
Good street port (where???)
FMIC (what kind and where should I buy this?)
fuel pressure regulator (what kind and where should I buy this?)
new rear end (what kind and where should I buy this?)
clutch (what kind and where should I buy this?)
upgraded power plant frame (what kind and where should I buy this?)

Running tens in the 1/4 is fine if anything a bit too fast but hey I can work on that

I still need help on where to get them from and the price to expect when making the purchases. Thanks again

Yep, I know for sure the Haltech will be like that and I'm 97% sure the AEM will be as well. Head over to the ecu section and read about them. Chrisspeed has a thread on the Haltech and there is also a thread for the AEM with links to other website that tell all about it.

Your not going to make a 470rwhp rx7 cheap. Its impossible, your going to spend a good 10K in parts and dyno tuning. If you have someone install the parts it'll be even more.

Jason at the RX7store.net usually has the best prices on most stuff, if he doesnt have the best price he will price match.

You'll need

turbo kit
fmic
new dp
mp
clutch
fuel system (pump and injectors) you'll want 850pri and 1300 sec
ignition upgrade
computer
dyno tuning

If you want to harness the power without breaking exerything you'll need a new ppf, axle, and some bad *** tires

By the time you add in shipping for all these products and throw in a few misc items here and there it'll be 11K......you might get by a little cheaper but dont count on it. Its expensive to have a mid 10second car.

Oh yea, non of this counts a new street ported motor which will be between 3500-4000.

Well I though about 15K so...I guess I was not too far off. Before I ask more questions I do want to thank you for all of your responses they have been very informative. SO you think Jason would be the best bet for getting all I need? I will shop around for the best prices and see if he can match me

Why do I need a new downpipe?
Can I just have Dave at KDR rebuild and port my present engine?
Do you know of anyone with a 10 second RX-7 who uses it as a daily driver?
I am still a litle confused about the ECU. I am not into changing every little thing. I want something I plug in and that is it not more tunning after the initial set-up. What ECU would be better?
Am I asking to much of the car for this much power and still be reliable?

Another one coming out in 2002....check out the post from Chrisspeed in the ecu section, its on the main page with you enter the ecu forum.

470 is not to much to ask if its done right. I'm sure you can get there for around 15K. The reason you need a new dp is when you go from the twins to a single is you install a new turbo manifold (should come with the turbo kit). This will move the exhaust outlet to a new location and you current dp wont fit up. I'd have most of this done when you change out the motor because it will save a ton of $$$ on labor. They have to remove the turbos, dp, fuel rail, IC, to replace the motor and while the motor is out the clutch is accesable and can be changed in 15minutes. If you have it all done at once you'll save a ton of $$$ in labor.
