Talking Pulled the twins off, Single here I come.

Hey guys, I was working on the 3rd gen getting my intake mans off. What a job. I decided to pull the engine to port it and started thinking. If I am going to porth the engine and have it breath better as weel as have my vmic,dp,mid pipe, and cat back my twins are going to choke the breathing of everything.

Going single I will loose all the vaccum lines. The car will be easier to work on as well as make higher hp that is reliable. What I would like to know is can I use the same DP with the single turbo header? I also would like to know what Garret turbo will give me the same feel as a BNR stage 3. I am looking to make 425 + rwhp. I do not want to have a lot of lag. This is my fear.

I will search as I can, but would like to get input for you. What header do you recommend? I will be upgrading the fuel system and was thinking of running 750cc for primary and 1600cc for secondry. I have PFC as well. What ignition system to go with?

Many questions, searching as I can, but would like straight forward advice with out many conflicting info.

Thanks

A twins DP will not work with a single. Just sell it.

550/1600s will get you the power levels you are looking for, and there are a lot of decent base maps with the pfc.

4 msd coils and boxes work well if you can afford it

You're always going to get conflicting info, everyone has different experiences..

I have started to search. This is very confusing. I see that the rx6 is close to twin set up. I also see that the T78 is more like the bnr 3's but has much more lag.

I am not sure on the garret turbos. What garrets would be like bnr 3's? I also noticed in my search that there seems to be a lot of older turbos that hve been used till this day. Is this because nothing new out is working or is this due to the old saying if it ant broke dont fix it.

more help please.

Call aspec and ask about the 500r, many people seem to be bery happy with the kit. Also its very hard to have response and power, its either one or the other. Something similar to the 35R would be perfect for your goals.

I have sent an to aspec. I have not heard from them yet. The reading that I have done on the 35r and the 500r lead me to beleave that they are very close to each other. The 500r seems to breath better and have the ability to give more power withthe right mods.

Like I said, I am looking for a streetable car to have fun with. I would like to have 425 + rwhp with some good torque.

I will pull my engien out hopefully on Sunday. I was wondering what pully kits are good in workmanship and do the job. I know that I will need a smog pump delete kit. What are the advantages of an underdirve pully kit?

What ignition kits are good for the FD. I have heard that people have had many problems with MSD kits on other cars. Is that the case with FDs? More info on going single would help lead me to the right sources on the form to reseach.

Thanks for the help.

For ignition you should be just fine with the stock coils and a twin power..

People are always suggesting the 35r or 500r. Whats wrong with Aspec's GT3574 ? If you go with the .84 housing it has very similar response to the 35r, has the larger turbine wheel so it breathes better up top over the 35r etc. Its good for mid 400's rwhp and mid 300's torque.

Just another option to look at.

LOL, I couldn't agree more, the 35R T4 we have is a good solid performer offers the same great response and a bit more overall power than the standard 35R. Mid 400's with excellent drivability around town.

The 500R offers a better breathing at higher boost levels than the 35R does. We have seen 500whp at moderate boost levels(low 20psi range) with this turbo. Most see upper mid 400's

Both of these are ball bearing turbo's.

The GT3574 was developed to specifically meet the demand we were seeing for those who wanted a 35R without the expense of a BB unit. It makes good power as well and has excellent response pretty much equal to a 35R. It has been proven to make mid 400's easily with a nice flat torque curve.

All kits use the same 321SS manifolds and are warranted for as long as you own them. We currently updating a few things on the kits as well.(oil drains, fittings, heat barrier etc) This is because these are the things people have asked for. Most if not all kits will remain at the same price.

Samples of some of the oil drain fittings we are currently getting made we will have many different types and styles to allow for just about any type of turbo fitment even if your not putting it on a 13B or using one of our RX7 kits.
