PTE Billet 6768 is here!

I know everyone's waiting for some concrete dyno sheets on this turbo, but I couldn't help myself. Thought I'd share the beauty of it with all. Billet 67 HPQ (68mm exhaust wheel) Can't wait to throw 'er on and crank up the boost! Hopefully before this blasted season is over.

The difference is the turbine wheel, the 6765 uses a 65mm exducer/74mm inducer turbine and the 6768 (HPQ) uses a 68mm exducer/79mm inducer wheel.

So does that mean more topend while sacrificing a bit of spool?

the nominal 68 mm turbine wheel is basically a Q trim as opposed to the P trim turbine of the 65 mm... and the 62mm is like a stage V turbine in terms of basic measurements

Well, that is up for debate I'd say. You'd think that a smaller turbine wheel would mean less mass, and quicker spool. however, you look at A-Spec's GT3574, which is a 35R that uses a larger turbine wheel, it gets more top end due to the larger turbine, but also showed an increase in spool over a standard 35R (I'm pretty sure). If that is the case, I'd say it's due to more "leverage" on the turbine blades compared to a smaller wheel, but there would be a limit to this for sure. Either way, yes, the larger wheel does accomodate more top end.

I'm interested in seeing how the spool is compared to my make-shift 3574

Yeah man! I sent you a PM a few weeks ago seeing what's up. I upgraded the coldside on that T04E to a 35R compressor wheel and housing, been running it over the summer getting the tune down, now up to 15lbs of boost w/ the meth injection. I've decided to go mainly drag with the car, so figured I should get a proper turbo for it. I just need a manifold, and I'll probably switch out my front mount for an Air/Water setup, and up the boost until the rear plate cracks. Eventually I'll switch it out for a 13B-RE full or half bridge, just keep the S4 rotating assembly.

the nominal dimensions of the wheels and housing options aren't very different from all the other Garrett based turbos (as opposed to Borg Warner, Mitsu/Greddy, etc) out there. the numbering system is just a little different.

I'm pretty sure PTE's turbine line is based on the Garrett ones too, P-Trim, Q-Trim, etc. But, I've also been told that they are different, I.E. a standard P-Trim housing will not fit the 65mm PTE turbine wheel, and I'm guessing it's the same for my Q-Trim 68mm

Yeah, I'm still deciding how I'm going to be re-doing my entire setup... Might be switching to water/air intercooled.

Either way, the block is an S4, and it will be the limiting factor here before the turbo IMO. I'll be crossing my fingers when I hit the dyno, I'm already trying to get a spare S5 plate handy
