Thumbs up

IRP installed one not too long ago. I'll see if I have a pic somewhere

Edit:

Here ya go. A few fitment issues, ie the WG hangs a bit below the subframe, and also Ihor had to wrap the PS motor mount in DEI TI exhaust wrap b/c there is no room for the OEM heat shield. This particular car also had problems with oil smoke out the exhaust and needed some serious crankcase ventilation to alleviate the problem.

Having said all that, this setup boost very quickly on a stock port engine and is very fun to drive on the street. It's high quality and in the end was worth dealing with the few small issues. It belongs to DJF(NJ), search and you'll find his thread with dyno results etc.

The bearing housing on the TD61( T3/T4 Garrett BB bearing housing(flanged)) is not the same as the GT35R( GT bearing housing, no flange) . They do however use the same oil inlet thread pitch. Hope this helps, feel free to PM/Call with any concerns.

Don/Rich glad to hear you got the smoking issue to go away!

I'm not sure I'm following all of the above, but thank you for the reply.
anyway, someone I talked to told me that the chra is not of any Garrett design, and actually very closely resembles something made by Precision turbo. I then consulted someone else, who said they were not sure what Precision's products look like, but that the turbo I have "definitely" is not made by Garrett. The second source also mentioned a Garrett identification tag which should be present somewhere on the turbo (which is also missing from all the other TD61 pictures I could find). So, I'm rather confused as to what turbo it is that I actually own? It is indeed ball bearing, correct? And I should then make sure to use an oil restrictor for the feed line, correct?
Is it really a Garrett product, or is it something else?

The turbo you have, and every TD61 is 100% Garrett Parts( there is a custom backplate and compressor nut however). They are even covered under warranty by Garrett. You're sources only know Garrett's GT lineup...

no offense, but unless that source IS Garrett themselves... it doesn't mean much.

I do have the whole setup though! dual wg (38mm atmo dumped tial) shorty mani, 3.5" dp, 750/2200 injectors with Walbro 400, Ported UIM and Xcessive LIM and oil pan, all lines, fittings, gaskets, mechanical WI kit, Mikuni omp, all taunting me from within their boxes! I need to get the other car fixed asap!
