Opinions on sizing a turbo for a 13B-RE with high compression rotors (9.7:1)
I'm looking for opinions on what turbo I should look into getting for my setup. I've been looking at compressor maps alot (yes, I relatively understand them) and I still can't figure out what to choose. I'm aiming to get a Garrett turbo by the way.
Setup:
13B-RE with a large streetport and TII exhaust sleeves with a decent exhaust port.
9.7:1 High compression rotors
24"x12"x4" intercooler (yes, I know it's a pretty big)
Microtech LT-8 ECU
Aftermarket exhaust manifold
Stock, port matched intake manifolds
3" exhaust all the way back to 2 1/2" dual exhaust
I guess what type of powerband I'm looking for is a very strong midrange with a decent top-end. A turbo that doesn't spool up too late and has a bit of low-end to it (not much). I'm trying to avoid surging (I know I'll have some but I can live with that). I'm also trying to avoid high compression intake temps at high rpm's. Basically a relatively flexible turbo. I know this is asking alot from a specific turbo, but I'm curious to see what I can find out from you guys.
I plan on running 14-16 psi on the street at 93 octane and 20-22 psi on race gas with this setup.
Any suggestions??
Brian

fart on a friends head!!!
why not the 35r? i have a 60-1. im happy with its performance. . . feels very positive, and is an excellent street turbo, IMO. either of those would be my choice. i believe you might be able to setup a 60-1 a little cheaper, though.

Thanks guys!! I'm going to look into the 60-1 because of the cost. I can't afford the ball bearing 35R.
What AR sizing should I look into having considering I'm running high compression rotors??
