OMP problem
Ok so i have a PFC and a bad OMP ,since i want to run premix best way would be to get a haltec or new ecu that doesn't support the OMP. Now the problem is is that i just got this PFC and commander from SR and dont want to loose anymore money. So i purchased a used OMP and plugged it into the harness and threw in some premix and reset the ecu and started it. I watched the little end peice (rotating part)for some movment from the pump and it didnt move one bit. So i checked the sensor and it is fine but i think that actual pump is bad. I just need to know if it is suposed to start moving(spinning) or is there a different was to see if the pump is bad so i can get my car out of safe mode and on the road.

i dont know were you heard that you can just disconnect it but you can,t. There is a safe mode that the car goes into when the OMP is malfuctioning because you can taost your engine and never know why if your OMP isnt working. If you have stock or PFC ecu than this aplies to you , now if you have a haltech you can just disconnect it cause the haltech does not support the OMP. Second off were did you here that you had to put 16oz in (WAY TO MUTCH) you should be putting in 4oz every fill up.

You should only get rid of your OMP under a these conditions...
First off you have to be standalone.
Second if your 7 is your daily driver, you should decide whether you're willing to premix 4 to 6 oz if you top it off.
And you should become very observant of your exhaust gases. Make sure that you're not putting too much or not enough oil. You have to be careful.
Good luck,
Alex

There are a thousand threads on this but to save some time for you, here is the low down.
4oz is for added protection if you have a properly working OMP supplying the correct amount of engine oil.
1oz per gallon, is for premixing alone as the only source of internal lubrication. smooth13b, you need to get your facts straight.
As for the PowerFC, I am 90% sure that it will not through code if disconnected. You can serach for this as I do not have the time but I am pretty certain you can eliminate the OMP with the power FC.
Reasons to premix; 2 stroke oil does a way better job of lubricating the combustion chamber than motor oil. You can do what I did and buy the OMP adapter that allows you to feed the OMP via a seperate resevoir filled with your oil of choice. This way you do not inject 4 stroke oil into the combustion chamber. you should use a tcw-3 certified synthetic 2 stroke oil such as costrol has for outboards.

I don't know about you guys but I don't let my tank go under half. So every fill up is usually in the six gallon ball park. Now if your on empty then it'll probably require an whole 16 oz's. MFilippello where and how much was this OMP adapter? It sounds a lot better. Also how big is the resevoir.? How well does this set up work?
Thanks,
Alex
Thanks,

oh ****, sorry. I realy thought i knew but i guess not, good thing i know now cause im still waiting to take my first drive(ill throw in a couple more oz. of 2 stroke). I have read about the adapter and mabe ill go that rout later on but atm premix is fine as long as the car gets fixed.I would like to hear more on this no safe mode with pfc deal cause i know it uses the OMP and if it had no fail safe on a not so reliable pump that has to keep the apex seals lubricated you would think alot of ppl would just be randomly destroyin there motors and quiet possibly never know why.

adapter located here: www.rotaryaviation.com
it does not come with the resevoir. I am working on that as we speak. Car is still being put back together, gt40r install. Hurricanes causing delay in getting around to finishing it I am looking at options for resevoirs to use and where to install them.
Looked in the power fc forum and as I thought, the power fc does not have a limp mode. It does have a sensor reading to check if it is working properly but will not go into limp mode if it malfunctions as the stock ecu would.

thats not paint....
On the PFC check your PIM Volt setting. I had problems like this kinda and my PIM Volt setting was on Option 4 instead of Normal. I had stock twins at the time but it made a nasty difference. Not saying it is your problem but worth a check, if that isn't then look at your plugs or maybe tuning issues.
