Oil Presure Nightmare

Alright bought a rhd 1st gen rx7 with a cosmo 13b in it and a bunch of other cool **** includeing a holset single turbo. I bought if from a guy who had sr motorsports install everything but it was never ran and then set in his driveway for several years. He says the motor was rebuilt by them but I never got any specifics on it and the people at sr motor sports dont rember the car because of how long ago the swap was done.

Anyway when I got the car home and running it started burning LOTS of oil and I figured the turbo was shot. Pulled apart the turbo and it seemed to be fine. I noticed the oil feed line was pinched off in 2 places possably to stop so much oil from going into the turbo. I pulled off the oil line at the block on my 3rd gen with a t-70 on it cranked it over a few times and the oil shot up out of the block a few inches, when I did the same thing on the 1st gen it shot over the roof...

Now I have a few questions, what the hell could cause this much pressure? Could it be intentional becuase of the amount of power they planed on produceing? Will that much oil pressure starve any of the barrings in my block? I can just through a reducer in the line if so.

Also if anyone knows what kind of thread pattern is used on the oil pressure sending unit on a 13b can you please inform me. I attempted to put a oil pressure gauge on it with a adapter but it seems to be some kind of a odd ball thread pattern.

hey man got a similar problem in "OIL PRESSURE NIGHTMARE" in 3rd gen section. whats your oil pressure at when you drive or at idle mine is almost at zero at idle and turbo looks good as well as yours. And i did the same thing as you cranking it with a line disconnected, very little flow as well.

And at 3000 rpm the oil pressure should be at about 50psi min in factory manual so that should shoot out like crazy, thats pretty well the story for any engine but ours run a little higher, its not good yours and mine is not spraying oil everywhere. Also there should be absolutely no restrictions in the oil feed to the turbo or the return to the pan, if yours is crimped get a new one. I run a 1" ID hydraulic hose to feed the holset in my mustang (all i could find at the time).

in factory manual in fd3s.net there is a lubrication section with a shitty oil line diagram, usually from previous experience and the net the O-ring behind the from cover goes, leaking oil pressure but thats back to the oil pan so no smoke. If there is smoke thats usually the O-rings between the rotors and the side plates and thats a rebuild man or if your lucky enough that could be a clearance issue thats adjustable.

Let me know how you make out with this, it may help me with my issue.

They probley shimed the oil pump for increased oil pressure. I run high oil pressure with out any problems and run a -4 an feed line to the turbo no restrictor non ball bearing turbo.

Make sure the drain line is at least 5/8'' and not kinked.

When you say it uses a lot of oil what do you mean? Smokes, oil level goes down, oil in the ic pipe, oil in the down pipe, any leaks you need to be very exact to get the best help!

Sounds familiar , a while ago my op never passed 50psi . Problem was the oil pan ........, it was soo dented that the floor of the pan was literally blocking off the pumps oil pick up tube . Dropped the pan , knocked it back out an oil pressure was 110+!
