That way in case something does go wrong, like fuel pressure, the motor has a better chance of surviving. For example.... If he was doing the pulls in 4th when I had the fuel pressure problem, it would of most likely poped the engine since there would of been more load on it. And I have before dynoed cars in 3rd and 4th to see the difference, and almost every time the numbers read higher in 4th.
4th gear = more power recorded
