Ok he said he really thinks it's the combination of the pump and the -6AN lines. I asked him if he checked egt's and he said no he didn't but he was checking both afr's both from my gauge and from his and they were both the same. I'll be getting the car back in a few days and will check timing etc... I just don't know how it's making power running at 9.6???

Edit: It's hard asking him questions or questioning what he did because he is KILO and he is the man, so when he says he just doesn't think the pump can handle it the only thing I could say was I've talked to quite a bit of tuners from around the states/world and they all seem to think the 044 should be fine by itself however with the BAP it should make it that much easier.

He ended up just saying he think the lines are too small and the pump is not good enough.... The whole time thinking of the long list of people that have easily made 500hp on stock rubber fuel lines including jrat not to mention his ability to do it with a walbro 255. But then again maybe I'm just not one of the lucky ones

0% chance it is the 6AN lines when there are guys running well over 500whp with stock sized lines.

this is why there are maybe half a dozen people on this planet I would trust to tune my car (and thus I just do it myself)

Get the car back and bring me down there, Cameron. I'll come look at it.

Kilo is the man, you can't get a car going down the 1/4 mile 9 second all motor without being the man I'm not making this post to dog on anyone because he has proven himself time and time again with his tuning and building abilities I just made this thread to get ideas of what may be wrong.

ya i know i hear ya. my brother aking his car to a guy named raymond who runs some fast cars too, running his car at 8 secs.
not sure if i would want him to tune my car, idk something bout tunning race cars and street cars seems to me (in my head i know) that its different and just because u can tune race cars doesnt mean u can do street cars.
i know i might get flammed for saying that but for some reason thats just the way i see it in my head.

Well I believe there is a guy here on the forum that has a pretty nice or at least had a pretty nice second gen that kilo tuned and it turned out to be a great street driven monster! So while I don't think kilo's dignosis may be correct I don't think it's in his tuning ability. It's more than likely in my build somewhere that I'm over looking or something.

I had the microtech changed to a 3 or 4 bar map sensor so it had to be shipped off to Australia. Could there be any way it's the map sensor?

Probably not. Its unlikely he'd have gotten that far if the map sensor was reading way off or jumping around......but my only experience with tuning on MAP is with GM style external ones, and the only one I've seen fail just simply didn't give a reading, was sitting at 0v the whole time.......I dunno what the microtech ones do when they fail though, but I still bet it would've been a much bigger road block if he was tuning off a wonky MAP signal!

Im not suggesting kilo isnt a great tunner, but did anyone check the boosta pump to make sure it was running. If it wasn't it could become just a restriction.
And if the fuel pressure droped and you opened up the injectors to compensate wouldnt this throw off the spray pattern and make them slobber rich?

Im not a tuner and i dont even play one but im just curious!

Well the boost a pump just works off of voltage to the pump so if it's not working it would probably just not supply any more voltage to the pump, I don't think it would restrict anything being that it doesn't disrupt the flow any how. At least that's what i think.

So your just boosting voltage on the bosch 44, not useing a booster pump!
Never mind sorry im a dumb ***!

Is it possible that both O2 sensors have been previously contaminated by leaded race fuel? That might explain the incorrect 9 AFRs. If it were truly in the 9's it should fall on it's face as stated before by others.

Fix this problem first. Then recheck the fuel pressure falling off.

something doesn't make sense, if a pump is not pumping enough fuel and the lines are too small how can the car be rich? it should be lean. just my 2 cents.

For the fuel pressure falling off problem. It sounds like your system should be adequate.

At what PSI is your fuel pressure regulator set? Could you be relieving to much fuel back to the tank?

Leaded fuel (race gas) does kill wideband sensors eventually, I have killed two in the past I know when they are broken when they start recording mega rich low 9s, when I replaced the sensor the readings came back to approx 11:1 with no other changes

Also, are you 100% positive that 044 pump you have is authentic? I hear there are plenty of knock-offs floating around that supposedly don't flow as much as a genuine 044. Just an idea...not too sure how to check for that though.

Thanks for the replies fellas. Barry as far as race gas goes I have never run this car with race gas. Now I can't say for sure with the one at the dyno but really it seems like the only thing that could be the issue is a couple of bad sensors being that the car SHOULD NOT be running with such a rich mixture. I'm not exactly what he has the fuel pressure set to but will get that from him as soon as I call him again and I'll let you know. Ryan I'm not sure it is a genuine or not being that I bought that thing so long ago however I have a feeling that I will probably just go ahead and buy another one along with another o2 sensor... There's nothing like throwing money at a problem

Thanks man I appreciate that I hope it does too. I'm trying to buy a house right now and the last thing I needed was bad news regarding my money pit... grrrrr
