Living with a half bridge port as a DD? Have you done it?

I DD'ed mine for about 2 years before finally getting a real DD, and I'm sure glad I got the real DD. It was fun but mostly commuting in heavy traffic for 45min each day it got real old. It was loud, stinky and the OS twin plate didn't help too much either. I personally would rather keep a bridge car as a weekend car..

+1. The gearhead folks that are at gas stations from time-to-time normally give me a nod from how the car sounds. It's very noticable. Consider a bridgeport a 'hot rod' version of the rotary like how a Mustang or Camaro owner can do a big block w/ motor mods and big exhaust.

Speaking of which, HBP guys here that may be using my lead and split advance curves, I'm modifying them up a bit and I'll be updating the PowerFC maps on my website and on here. Turns out I was running a hair bit too much lead advance in some spots in vacuum so I've re-worked 'em to make the engine run a bit more top around town.

^ I would say a bridge port is to a rotary what a large cam is to a piston motor and a 13B to a 20B is a small block to a big block, or v6 to v8.

Here's a few examples of what more modest half-bridgeports sound like:

I'll post mine later today, but when warmed up mine will idle around 1200 or so and with the new 3'' apexi exhaust it sounds great with just an extra borla muffler in the middle. Has a lightened flywheel instead of the stock one since it will not fit with the 3mm oversized stud kit I got. It does shake from time to time but usually when not warmed up. Also I have a no problem listening to radio.

Here is my BDC half bridge 6 port done this past Aug. It has S5 turbo internals which are fully balanced. Anyways 3 inch exhaust with a apexi N1 muffler. It idels a lot lower now and sound is controlled sometimes with the silencer, but not in this clip.

HI

Not very good at idling right after startup, probably from having that haltech IAC that everyone says is slow. I changed it from the crazy vibrating idle to this.

http://img531.imageshack.us/my.php?image=picturenr6.flv The noise at the end is something with my clutch not the engine. After the new exhaust and some tuning.

My FD with it's current large streetport idles at right around 1050, there's no way it would hold an idle at 700

Best time on those tires (17" e.t streets) are 7.34 with a 98.xx mph in the 1/8 with lots of traction issues. That car pulls like a freight train

Rich, some guys like driving 550rwhp 10.3 sec street cars with STOCK motors. thats the only reason he gets it to idle that low and smooth. his car literally sounds like a stock fd with a catback at idle

How well does the PFC work with a HBP from a tuning perspective?
