Okay guys I just lost another motor and I'm looking at going brdge port.

Motor History :
engine 1 : bone stock
engine 2 : street port, stock twin, everybolt on, and Knight sport ECU
engine 3 : same street port, single turbo, PowerFC

but now I'm looking at buying a slightly used motor and keeping one as a back up. I found a forum member selling a half bridge motor for a good price. So I'm asking you guys if you have expereince with a bridge port lets hear it.

And yes I know it's going to idle higher and make alot more noise but I plan to add a second muffler into the exhaust and I don't mind the higher idle cause I'm going to bigger injectors anyways

Bridgeport and stock type ecu will have some tuning issues.

Yep it'll work. Keep the bridgeports mild in size and width. Retain the factory, heavy flywheel. Needs standalone to work right. Will work fine. Been doing it for quite awhile. Drove mine tonight as a matter of fact.

Hey Brian,

Do you have any vids online of your car idling or reving/driving with the half bridge.

What RPM do you idle at roughly?

Thanks,

Anthony

I've got an idling video of a friend of mine's black T2 I think on the last page. Otherwise, I can't think of any specific video.

He doesn't have any choice over the shape of the bridgeport in this case, as he is considering buying a fully assembled motor.

Okedoke arghx. He ought to stick with the factory flywheel to help keep the car evenkill and easy to drive around town, too.

I think i could daily drive a bridgeport, but i don't think i would want to.

You know the effect you get after stepping off a boat that you've been on for a while? Where you can still feel the waves even though you are on land? I get that feeling after getting out of my FD with a bridgeport, especially if i've had to sit in any traffic or a lot of stoplights. The bridgeport gets a nice rhythm going and shakes the car. Its strange. I wonder if i'm the only one that gets that?

Here is mine idling: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J-wGbskdMjA
This was about 2 years ago and its still going strong.

TRIED IT FOR a year & didnt like it. shakes the car, gas mileage sucked, and everyone thought i had a motorcycle motor in my car! plus i made more power with the street port than with the bridge.

although the street port was so big it overlaps like the bridge, just not as bad!

oh and dont even think about music. YOU CANT HEAR ****!

I have one of BDC's half bridge motors. Got it rebuilt this past Aug. Its a daily driver too. It just takes some getting use to, have to slip the clutch a little more at the green lights but, no biggy. I have a video of it ideling but its on my phones memory card. Ill see if I can figure how to post it up.

About 1500 rpm. Its actually pretty loud, but it has a very nice low and deep tone that's easy to live with. I get quite a lot of comments from people about the exhaust note.
